I just wanted to give a big thank you to all of the great people on the budget board for their travel saving tips. From tickets to meals to resort stays, you guys are on top of everything! We leave this weekend for our DS's first trip to WDW (for his 5th birthday) and thanks to you it will be even more magical. Not only did I knock $1,800 off of our original trip budget, I was able to afford a double hotel class upgrade (from budget to deluxe-AKL) and then on top of that with the last set of codes I was able to get a double room class upgrade (standard to savannah)for even less money. Without this board, I would never have known about the room codes and therefor, never been able to afford the room that I am now getting. Thanks from all of us and I will give a trip report when we get back!

that is so awesome. I know youll have a wonderful time. Now you have that extra money to spend on things for yourself.

these are great boards i saved almost 1000.00 i started off on a villa for 1200, then expense were tight, someone suggested a hotel which took my lodgin down to 558, then someone else suggested skyauction and i got a two bedroom villa for a total of 215.00 for 7 nights, th rental car rates have dropped, i started at 236 and now i am down to 153.00 i am so glad these boards are here, oh yeah got tickets thru ticketmania.com at discount also

Happy Lawyer,

How can you save $83 in car rental? What type of car is it? I'm planning to rent car at Alamo. Thanks

The best place to find discounts is at www.mousesavers.com

Rental car companies don't charge change or cancelation fees (thankfully) the way airlines do, so you can make a res and then change it if/when you find something better. i've changed companies now three times and have my nine day rental of a full-sized car in mid-january down to $190. (started at nearly $300!)

you can also check www.rentalcodes.com sometimes there's a good code on that site. but i'd start w/mousesavers. Mary has lots of other tips besides codes.

good luck!

I have heard of these codes, how exactly do these work? Do you have to have an annual park pass? I'm currently using a AAA travel agent to help me plan my trip, but she has only given me the same quote as the WDW website :(

Can anyone help me with these codes?

Thanks!
Ashley

Go to www.mousesavers.com and she can tell you all about using codes for your trip!!

Congratulations! Enjoy your savings! :)

Good for you!!! Hope you have a wonderful trip. Although I probably don't have to tell you that - because I am sure you will :) How did you manage to upgrade from value to deluxe? Was it just the extra $ from what you were saving or was it approximately a similar price range that you ended up getting quoted?

Have lots of fun :)

Being the very cheap person that I am may I just say- your post almost brought a tear of joy to my eye!
HAVE A BLAST!!!!!!!!!!

As far as how I got an upgrade,it was a little of both. My husband gave me a budget and I tried to stick as close to it (or be under) as possible. My rack rate for the budget was really close to the first upgrade I got with AAA (my first tip from this board for discount rooms) for a midprice (around a $30 a night difference). With all the other savings on tickets, food etc., I was able to upgrade to the deluxe- AKL Savannah view using the last codes for my dates and had to pay about an extra $20 per night. I also didn't mention that my total savings included discounts on tickets and hotel at US/IOA as well at WDW. So I did well all around.
