I'm glad you took up the hobby, Gail, always helpful here. Thanks. :wave2:

This may seem funny but I always thought Gail was a guy. I guess because of the pictures under the post. Doesn't matter guy or girl, Gail is always a wonderful help.

LOL, I am a definite female, the guy in the photo is my guy.

Hello Gail.......Southwest told me that I couldn't get or use a boarding pass online if we were checking luggage. Is this true?

Also, what is the age range for a "youth?"

Thanks a bunch.

Nope not true at all. http://www.southwest.com/travel_center/retrieveCheckinDoc.html

The agent probably confused it with the rapid check in kiosk.

Youth Fare
Youths who are at least 12 years of age but who have not reached their 22nd birthday can fly to any of our cities, any time of the day or night, at the applicable Youth Fare. A valid picture I.D. proving age will be required at time of ticket purchase and at time of travel. Call Southwest Airlines Reservations for details.

Hope this helps. :)

Wow, really? That is crazy. I spend $1,200 on my SW Visa to earn one RR point and they take it away if I make any adjustment to an online reservation?

Is this RR punishment for changing online ressies something new?

You will NOT lose the Credit Card RR credit, but you will use the credit for the online reservation. You will still get the travel RR credit.

For instance, I make a reservation online to fly from DTW to BNA. After I travel, I will get 1 credit for the ONLINE reservation and 2 for the flights themselves for a total of 3. IF I call and have a SWA agent change anything, I lose the 1 ONLINE credit and only get 2.

If I put it on my SWA VISA, I would get the point for the $1200 charge.

You lose the bonus 1/2 point, not the regular RR credit. You lose because the 1/2 credit is given for online reservations. When you involve an agent, it is not longer an internet reservation.
If the fare is still available, cancel it and rebook it separately.

Gail- you do rock! And how do you know so much? You helped me so much last time since you were able to tell me that Alamo would take my debit visa card THANKS! Now I have another question about Southwest. I see there is a child's fare if I am flying with them and they are 2-11 years old, is that correct? Any idea how much of a discount these give? Can this only be booked via the telephone? Also, how do I show a picture ID for my 6 year old? Thanks so much!

Carrie,
To be honest, totally, I learn from everyone's questions here.
When a question is asked, I look it up. I was given the gift of an excellent memory, so, being able to answer questions is easy for me. ( I don't mean to sound conceited, I am just lucky).
Now, on to your question. You have me stumped on this one.
The way I read it, anyone within the age bracket can use this fare. BUT....often, the youth fares are more than the specials.
As to the ID, I would expect a birth certificate for children so young would do the job. My best advice on this one: Call SWA.

From their website re: youth fares

Sorry I could not be more help. :)

Thanks Gail! Actually I just re-read it on SW'spage and then edited my post- you are too quick! Iguess since my boys are still under 12, that youth fare thing will not apply to me!
Under their infant section though, SW's website actually says any child 2-11 that is accompanied by an adult can travel at the Child's fare. I will call when we get closer to our dates and find out if it is cheaper than the internet special. THANKS!

LOL, guess I am a little slow tonight or I would have picked up on that detail. Busy day at work, makes the mind slow. The same applies to the Childs' fare. Usually cheaper to buy the internet special. Good luck and let us know. :)

Hi! I wanted to say to say thanks to Gail too!

I flew last year with my then DS3 and while I planned all the other details of the trip I overlooked researching the air portion of the trip. Well, sorry to say, I was fairly upset with myself for not doing my research. Pretty much had a miserable time.

For this trip, we (myself, DH, DS9 and DS4) are all able to go and I have put a lot more research into the flying portion. I really thank Gail for that. Like another poster, I read anything she has posted.

We're flying SW this time and I'm more confident with that choice.

Anyhow, thanks Gail - you're very much appreciated!!

You are more than welcome. It is nice to be appreciated and I also appreciate the fact that you cared enough to write.

Thank you to all of you for your kind words. I really makes my day!!!

You cannot print them out if you have multiple people on the same reservation. If they are separate and not senior, infant, youth etc. You can print as many as they will allow. [/Q

So if I have nine people on our reservation (1 senior and 4 youth) even if I get separate conf # I can't print them out? Am I misunderstanding?

No, you are not misunderstanding. Youth, senior, infant cannot be printed out online. You have to go to the airport for these.
You can print the others out on line, however.
