I just wanted to say a quick thank you to SueOKW, Nanajo1, Teri and SueM for helping out with suggestions concerning OKW/BWV.

We will be staying 4 nights at OKW and 2 at BWV. We would've liked to stay for the entire time at OKW but it wasn't available. We're excited about this set-up though. Although there were no Handicapped rooms left at BWV, they are supplying us with the hand held shower and transfer seat. The cm I spoke to over the phone was sooo helpful ... and he himself is in a wheelchair, so he was just too willing to share lots of info with me :) He was a sweetie.

My mom could use a lot of prayer and pixie dust to help this trip become a reality. She is so looking forward to it but has expressed over and over that she's afraid of being a burden. And of course, nothing could be further from the truth.

Thanks again one and all :)

Aloha,
Lorraine ;)

Pixie Dust is on the way! I hope that you have a lovely time. :) You know, when you get there, if you want to try to stay in one place, ask at the front desk if there have been cancellations - sometimes that works. :)

I hope you find everything goes very smoothly for you and everyone has a good time!! Remember to RELAX!

Here's my best wishes and pixie dust!

Oh, I almost forgot, I have another tip for you --- save yourself much work. Have Bell Services transfer your bags from one resort to the other. They will take them right out of one room (don't forget to tip!) and send them right over to your new room when you are ready (don't forget to tip again!) Oh, it saves SO much energy.... :)

First of all - thanks all :)

Another question:

We are going to be renting a portable commode and bedrails for the week. Do you think that Disney would also move those from resort to resort (appropriate tipping understood :))?

Thanks

Aloha,
Lorraine

That's a good idea about transferring the luggage.
For the commode and bedrails, you should contact the place you are renting it from to get it transferred. There are a lot of rules about transferring used medical equipment so that the people moving them have the education they need to not get infected with anything that might be on them.
Have fun.

Have a wonderful trip. PD to all of you!
Please let us know how things worked out .

Again, thanks for all of the info :)

My mom's getting a little stronger every day but it'll still be a challenge.

I received the booklets from WDW about disabilities and in it, it said that the resorts have portable commodes and bedrails. I haven't called yet - on the list of things to do today - but I thought that was interesting. Has anyone actually gotten these things from the resorts?

Aloha,
Lorraine

Hmmm.... I would bet that the special reservations folks would know the answer to that... I didn't realize that housekeeping kept those supplies.

I think Andrew B posted in another post that he got a raised toilet seat from Housekeeping. I got bedrails from housekeeping.
