"All Annual and Seasonal Passes have automatically been extended by the number of days our theme parks were closed"

"The executive orders issued by Gov. Ron DeSantis that require travelers from areas with substantial community spread of the virus, including the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut tri-state area, to quarantine for 14 days, or for the duration of their presence in the state, whichever is shorter"

Call them. They are really nice. BE POLITE NO MATTER THE ANSWER.....because if it's not a good answer then you can call back and plead your case.

I think it is very reasonable that these parks need to work with those who already paid for a year. I don't think they should do it to avoid litigation but they should do it because it's the right thing to do.

I'll give you an example....i think masks are ridiculous and annoying. (I'm not debating anyone here....not to be rude....I've heard it all and don't care to hear it on repeat) so I called universal and explained this was a substantial change to the original agreement. I was polite and explained no one could predict this....including my family who paid $1600. For us the masks are bearable but they suck. Im sucking it up now because of low crowds. As i said I was very polite and logically explained my point. Whether it's required (I had assumed eventually the county was going to require it which they did) or its a Universal choice it would impact my usage. I asked that my pass be put on hold for the duration of mask requirements and then add it on. They didn't shun that idea. They gave me a case number and said to call back.

I did explain to them that I am a reasonable person and will be happy to try it out. I don't think it's fair to complain without trying something. They appreciated that I was willing to try and said to call back at a later date. Like I said it was bearable and my family had fun. We are going to try a different version of a mask (patent pending....haha.....i have an idea that involves sunglasses :) )

To be honest, after trying it out I don't think I need to extend my pass. My wife pointed out we wouldn't likely go in the summer anyway. She had a rough time with the mask though.

My point in all that rambling is.....be reasonable. Im a pretty straightforward "speak your mind" kinda guy. No emotional response.....just logically straightforward. I know that rubs people the wrong way but I really don't plan to adjust for them. I was reasonable. Factual. Understanding of all points. I get that a company can do whatever they choose. And I support that. Whether I agree or not that is their right. I explained that in a nice way and we had a wonderful conversation. Just be nice and explain yourself. Prepare your points in advance so you don't get worked up. Your tone could escalate their tone and they may not want to work with you.

I have a set of four annual passes that we purchased and used last week of Feb. We are from Canada and the border is still closed so we still can't use our passes. My plan is to call Universal after the border finally re-opens and request as politely as possible an extension for the same amount of time as the closure was. I'm hopeful they will respond favorably. Never before in our lives have we had annual passes and literally two weeks after we got them it was shut down after shut down (parks then borders).

Stories like this make me feel bad for being a little pissy about masks :)

It would have been harder for them but I feel like they should have just restarted your time on the next use instead of the three month extension.
Of course just adding three months is much easier and they do want people to come back sooner.

They still have the flexibility to work with people and as I have mentioned elsewhere they were very cooperative with me and ending up giving me a refund for my unactivated flex-pay premier passes - something I had not even asked for since I new the rules of flex pay.

Wow.....i have always been impressed with Universal.

A little story about my first trip.
In 2004 my friends had passes and they could take someone in for $20 to ride the mummy. It was a 3 hour event. We get in and someone immediately announced that the Mummy is a 3 hour wait. That wasted the whole night. So we went to the guest services desk (which was indoors at the time). We were polite and explained we walked in only minutes ago and just wanted a refund. The guy said "hold on", went to the back and came back with someone else. I thought "oh boy....here we go "
He was getting someone to replace him because he escorted us to the front of the ride. He still refunded us too......we weren't even mad at all. We understood.
We got escorted like a bunch of celebrities.
Funny thing is.....im a big dude. I was younger and built better 6'4" 250 lbs so I looked like a security guard. My buddys wife is very well put together; make up and high heels and trendy looking. So it looked like a celebrity with her security being escorted to the front. . We kept hearing whispers....."who is that.....do we know who she is"

Anyway....they always seem to care.

Great idea. I would probably make the same phone call. We bought passes last December and they have extended our passes by 3 months. But as you said the border is not open yet, also we would not know quarantine requirements once the border opens so I’m hoping they can extend a bit more once they take that into consideration.
