We're having another wind storm this morning, I'm hoping it'll help me blow away and release all the old stuff that is holding me back.

I did make some progress towards feeling better over the weekend. I switched to Allegra which is an H2 antihistamine, and it seems to be working: I'm still groggy and congested but don't feel like I've been punched in the face. I also changed up some food things which is also helping.

My motivation this week... to strive to keep myself centered in a place of love. Friday it became evident that we're headed into a rough patch at work, plus this morning there was a notification that we have a new VP, so I'm pledging to myself that I'll approach these things from love and not get in to knock down drag out battles with anyone.

Happy Tuesday no worries this is not a political post but any excuse for Ryan you know?

Topic today…analogies.

I will share my story on the topic later but have you ever used analogies to communicate a difficult or not so difficult concept in a clever way? What’s the best one you’ve ever heard?

Hello Everyone!!! We have returned from
our RunDisney/Halloween/Girlstrip and it exceeded my expectations in every way!! My niece was starstruck at the characters and loved almost all the of rides! We had 2 great character meals and very much enjoyed the fall decorations. We also had great weather!

My knees and our costumes held up for the 5K and God willing we will be back next year!

My sister got bit by the Disney bug so now I have another partner in Disney which is great!

Motivation this week is to get back on track with healthy eating and exercise. Yesterday was good today will be better!

Happy Election Day everyone!

I definitely agree with "any excuse for Ryan"!!

I always tell DH that he is the king of analogies lol! I feel like most of his have something to do with the bathroom in one way or another :rolleyes1

I will have to think of a good one though! In all seriousness, I do think they sometimes make it easier to look at a difficult topic in an easier way.

Being a knitter, and now also a crocheter, this has always been my favorite "hey girl..."

He's just so darn cute. Saw 'Fall Guy' on the flight back from London and the shots of him in profile... heart melting

My least favorite analogies are the first to come to mind... pretty much anything sports related. Except that I used to use "The most important part of being a team player is to play your position. If you're the second base player people need to know they can count on you to be at second base." At least I think that qualifies as an analogy. I probably said it to myself as much as anyone else to counteract the impulse to try to be everything to everybody all the time. Fortunately, I've outgrown that.

Took a scenic route to get coffee this morning because the mountains have had the first dusting of snow, and I wanted to see them. So pretty and with Christmas carols playing on the car radio it was a real mood. Something to cling to as we make our way thru the day.

DId the quiz from Saturday morning and got Dinner Roll.

I don't know what my motivation is and maybe that is my problem. I lost 10 pounds while sick and I have managed to keep 8 off. I am staying steady at this number.

I will have to think about the analogies. I can't think of any that I say.

This weekend we had a party at my moms. It was just my family and 1 of my nephews. My sister originally said she could go and this week said she couldn't and got mad at my mom for not moving the date. My brother and sister in law didn't come because they were not feeling good. I really appreciate this because this will help DD now that we know that she doesn't have enough antibodies to fight illnesses. My sister in law understands as she is still dealing with being sick with Whooping Cough from my nephew. She and DD both got it back in July and are still dealing with it. I am too but it is so much better. So We had a nice little get together. It was nice spending time with my mom without my siblings but I also missed them too.

I did find out that my nephew who has spent the last 4 years in and out of Juvy is back in jail and this time since he is 18 it is the regular jail. We told DS (and I know my brother told my nephew) to be careful around him but neither of us wanted to out right tell them they could hang out with my nephew in hopes that things got better. The 3 boy are all with in 9 months of each other and DS and my other nephew have always wanted a relationship with him. It was a hard conversation this weekend with DS as we told him he needs to stay away. He can't get caught up with what my nephew is doing. My brother had they same talk with my nephew. It just sucks for them.

Today, on lunch, DH and I walked up to vote. It is like 77 and they are saying this is the hottest voting day on record. We do have a lot of wind but it was such a nice walk. It is was a 15 minute walk there and 15 minutes back. The line at 11:30 wasn't bad either. THe lunch crowd was coming in as we were leaving. I am going to try and get out this afternoon for a walk with the dog since we couldn't take her.

Yes! I love the episode of Star Trek where Picard and the other leader talk in all analogies (or maybe more appropriately, allusions?) but that's the first thing that popped into my head.

I can't think of a creative example right this second of one I've used to give advice, but I'm sure I have.

I've thought of a couple with healthy living / weight loss.

For the weight loss - those of us who are bigger feel that the loss is so slow and hard to notice. It's like a roll of paper towels. At the beginning, you take off one towel and you really can't tell. That one paper towel doesn't even go all the way around the roll and it's hard to tell the difference if it's on or off the roll. But, when you get closer to the end of the roll (end of your weight loss), every towel is easy to notice (as is your weight loss). - I'm probably not wording that exactly right, but hopefully you get the point lol!

Healthy living - it can be like a snowball rolling downhill. Sometimes you can make what you think is one small change, but it trickles over to other parts of your life and gains momentum. You start walking every day, so you start feeling better. You then make better food choices, feel even better, so keep pushing forward - maybe getting better sleep - it can even spill into other parts of your life (organization, spiritual, financial, mental health, relationships, etc) when it really gets rolling!

So funny you mentioned bathroom analogies @newski_mom because that is exactly what prompted todays topic.
I did early voting on Friday and DS12 asked to come. Ever the chatter box I told him once we get to the area where they are asking for IDs he has to be quiet aside from greeting the workers. When asked what to do when we got to the polling room I gave him this and thought myself quite clever 😂

A polling place is like a public bathroom. You can comment on the line and how long it is but once you are in your “stall” it’s eyes front. Don’t look around don’t try to see what others are doing. Take care of your business, get out, no discussions about what you just did.

I am going to woohoo that the rain let up here in time for me to take a walk at lunch and yesterday it was so nice out that we walked to vote and then later walked up to the grocery store to pick an item we needed for dinner. We could have drove but it was too nice out not too.

I did eat horrible last night and I am feeling it today. I made bacon gravy, fried potatoes and biscuits for dinner. Back to better eating today.
