My husband and I will be camping in Fort Wilderness Jan. 12 - 14. His first visit to Disney ever.

Thank you all for the great information. We hope to pitch our tent in loop 1500.

We'll be making my favorite campfire treat with Chip and Dale on Jan. 12.

That's Samore - Italian smores

You will need:
1 ziplock bag
1 jar nutella (chocolate hazelnut spread located near the peanut butter in most grocery stores)
1 bag marshmallows
loaf french bread cut into 1 inch rounds
olive oil
coarse sea salt - do not use fine table salt or these will be yucky

Before going to campfire:
Place bread pieces in ziplock with handful of salt - drizzle olive oil over bread and shake to coat.

At campfire:
Skewer bread and marshmallow onto stick leaving space between.

Toast over hot coals

When marshamallow is almost done remove from fire and leaving everything on the stick spread bread with the Nutella. Return to fire until marshmallow is a lovely carmelized brown. When you pull the bread up the tick it will smear into the melted marshmallow.

Enjoy this salty sweet snack and you will never ever think of smores the same way again.

Well hubby should hava great time, :thumbsup2
and that recipe sounds like something we'll havta try.

Have a wonderful trip ...and thanks for sharing the recipe - I'm adding that to my "fun things to cook on a campfire" roster. :goodvibes

You guys will have a blast! The Italian Smores sound dee-lish. I've been known to eat a whole jar of Nutella by myself in a 24 hour period. Obviously I LOVE that stuff!

we hope that our tent is in loop 1500 with yours! We'll be there Jan 10-16th.
can't wait for that campfire!

Just take plenty warm clothes. When you get there on the 10th the high will be 47 and low 29. after that it will be in the balmy 50's at night. bout the time you leave it will be in the low 70's during the day.

Have fun and enjoy your trip to the fort.

I'm still hoping that the cold front moves thru before then!!! If not, we will still be "moving in" to the fort on Sunday but will have the option to retreat to my moms hotel for warmth! The coldest night we've ever camped before was 30 degrees and that was COLD! Mind you, we didn't have electric at that site.
Hopefully, there won't be a lot of competition for loop 1500 during the cold snap!

We've camped in the snow several times. I really reccomend a silk sleeping bag liner which can decrease your sleeping bags temperature rating. So a 15 degree bag goes to a 10 degree bag. Plus the liner is oh so snuggly and can be used by itself in the summer.
