We just got back from 7 days at the GF and so many of your great ideas came in handy I had to say Thanks! First off the 20 question ball was a GREAT time filler in the car. It kept all of us including the adults entertained. The thing we could not do without were the clip on fans from One step ahead for the stroller. My kids were actually cool in 104 degree weather!! Then we LOVED the ziploc bag trick. We packed the babies clothes in them so they wouldn't disappear in the luggage. Everyone got their own sock bag- and underwear bag. I put my toddlers dressy shirts in one and tees in another. It made getting dressed a breeze(and we have 4 children) Also loved having the ziploc along for the washcloth trick- the washcloth soaked in the ice bucket overnight then sealed in a ziploc made a nice cool down in the parks! Oh my and the BEST thing was Body Glide for what we call the chub rub. I used it and was rash free the entire time!
In conclusion thank you all from the bottom of my heart you made our trip so much more pleasant than any we have taken in the past!

About the fan.... is it large enough to send cool air over two kids in a side by side double stroller. The picture looks like it probably is... but I want to avoid fighting over it and don't want to have to buy and pack two! Is it cumbersome to pack in luggage?

Thanks for the tips!!

We're leaving for the WL on August 5th, driving from NC with our two grandchildren, 5 :earsboy: & 8 :earsgirl: . So I have to ask - what's a 20 question ball? I'll try anything that will help keep us all entertained in the car.

And about those fans, moopdog. We ordered two of them and they won't take up much room at all. We left them in the packages for transporting. Just remember to take lots of batteries.

We used two fans for the double stroller. I found it easier than worrying about who got the wind. And everybody was happy. They do burn through the batteries though. We had to replace them just about daily. (worth it though) And we drove so cumbersome wasn't an issue for us.
The 20 questions ball is sold at Toys r us and Walmart. It is a small baseball size electronic ball(we never had to replace the batteries) It is a guess it game. You think of anything and the ball asks you 20 questions. Then guesses what you are thinking of!! We stumped it only 3 times the entire trip. (it does go to 25 questions then gives up) It is only $13 and worth every penny. We played as a family...I would read the questions like is it an animal.. and then the kids would yell yes for my non- readers. But my older ones just did it themselves. We drove from NJ and this was a lifesaver.

My DD and DNiece shared the clip on fan, but it would have been nice to have two. They are soooo great. They were a bit of a pain to pack, but VERY WORTH IT!

I had a hard time getting DD to drink enough until my smart DSIL bought her and DNiece these small Hello Kitty water bottles in Japan at Epcot. My advice: buy something cute and easly rinsable to get the kiddos to drink!

I forgot one important thing: you need a very small phillips screw driver to change the batteries. I used one that came with one of those cheap (under $1 I think) eye glass repair kits that you can get in a drug store. Since DH and I both wear glasses, they are always handy.

I havent tried them but I'm thinking of it. Anyway in oriental trading book they have a bingo game for the car that has pictures of signs, horses, bridge ect. who ever sees it , everyone still gets to use it, its just the luck of the draw like bingo on who wins. We travel a lot thought it might be fun.

Does anybody know where I can buy these fans in a store? We leave in a week :earboy2: and I don't think it will be here in time. Unless of course I want to pay for overnight charges :sad2: . Thanks

I looked everywhere I could think of for the fans (Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, Babies R Us, etc.) and finally had to order them online. I did get them in less than a week, but I wouldn't chance it if I was leaving soon.

And I bought Body Glide at Dick's Sporting Goods in the shoe department, but I think all sporting good stores carry it. It looks like a stick of deoderant.

Same for me! Nothing that was battery operated and could clip on to the stroller. I don't know what the overnight charges are, but looking back on our trip (7-10-7/16) I'd probably pay up to $10 extra - it was that invaluable. One thing- while the fan as great for DD 3.5 and DNiece 2.5, it only worked for DS 14 mos when he was sleeping because he kept playing with it and getting it unclipped. For us it worked best all around when clipped upside down on the stroller's canopy/shade.

I actually did some research and I might of found something that might work in place of the clip on fans. It's kind of weird though. I went to Petco's website and found a dog carrier fan that might work?? I will go get it today and when we get back from The World I'll let everyone know how it worked. The price was only about $12.

After reading this we went to walmart to replace one of our batterie powered jet skis and saw these on the end ilse. they were ten bucks so I grabbed one as we where on our way to the lake and thought it might be fun. We stumped it about 6 times thoe. It didn't have a clue about an apple, or a lake even after 25 Q. It did get a sidewalk intead of a road, than got it on the 25 Q. It will be fun as long as someone else can read it to my youngest son. They took turns thinking of something and they came to the conclusion thet it has a listing ear to what we say. lol We even took it on the dock and used it for a while. Have a great day everyone.

This looks like a perfect use for rechargable batteries. How heavy is this could you clip it on a backpack? OOPs left off the subject - the fan I mean.

I wanted to say thank you sooooo much for the tip on the stroller fan! I just ordered one today from onestepahead! If anyone else orders one, make sure to add coupon code BDAYJULY (exp 8/1) or AUGBDAY(exp 9/1) to get 15% off. Not a huge saving but hey it's something!

Thanks so much for the coupon code. Just ordered mine!!
