Hello!
My name is Jennifer and some of you came to know me and touch my life through helping Tara Hall send our family to Disneyworld this past September. That wonderful gift of love still brightens our lives daily and I wanted to let you all know that God has not only sprinkled your pixie dust on our lives, but soon many others will be encouraged by your act of love.
For those who may not know, I am a 40 year old wife, mom and homeschool teacher to 2 wonderful boys. I was diagnosed last year with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, a type of cancer that is currently incurable. This year a friend of mine, Tara Hall, began an effort to send our family to Disney World because she knew it was a secret wish of mine to see my children delight in that wonderful place. Many of you, though you didn't know Tara, or me or my family, opened your hearts and gave of yourselves to make this wonderful trip possible. Your kindess and selfless love touched us deeply and warms our lives even today as it will for many days to come. God performed many miracles through this trip and I thought you would like have an update on the latest.
My latest visit to the doctor was exciting in many ways. First, he told me that the chemo had pushed the cancer back for now. Yeah! Secondly, he informed me that I would not have to return for 3 months. This was a welcome relief just to have a doctor free exsistence for awhile. Finally, when the visit was almost over, my doctor informed me that he was writing a book for Zondervan Publishers. The subject matter will be "When the Doctor Gives Bad News" He asked me if I would sign a release allowing him to use my story in his book. I said yes and when I received the release in the mail, I found out he is going to write about what God did in our lives through the Disney trip! You see the weekend before we found out about this wonderful gift, we had had to cancel a camping trip because of rain and my son was very upset. He had prayed that God would not let it rain andwhen it did he said that God didn't hear his prayer. I told him that God had heard his prayer but his answer was no. I also told him that if God says "no" to us it is because he has something far better planned for our lives. The next day, Tara called to tell us about Disney! What a wonderful faith builder for our family especially my 9 year old boy! As we go through uncertain times ahead, we will always remember this act of love. The story of your gift will be included in the upcoming book.
Just imagine the lives you will touch and encourage through this ! Thank you to Tammy, Dan, Goofy, and all the others I don't know who blessed our lives in such a special way. Your gift just keeps on giving!
Love,
Jennifer Hanks
