I came to this board roughly 1 tear ago looking for advice on joining DVC. As a family of 5 (kids are 8,5, and 1) we were looking for less expensive travel options(I love staying in 1st class resorts and just don't like value resorts while on vacation). After reading the debates on this board my wife and I decided to jump in with a small contract (sight unseen:eek:) for 125 points at VGC. We just finished our first stay. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa with some good friends. As our trip was getting closer I turned to the experts on this board and asked for some room recs. I gave these to DVC and we ended up in villa 6500, one of the requested units. WOW...Incredible view, incredible suite, Incredible all around. I am at home still on cloud nine. One of the best trips ever from location, room size etc... Thank you to everyone on this board as you have made my kids (and my) dreams come true. Ok so here is the you suck...contacted my guide on the way home to be put on the waiting list for more points...Thanks to all you for spending my bonus check:banana:

Obviously tongue and cheek. I couldn't be happier with our purchase. . Our next trip will be 2014 to Aulani and 2016 to Animal Kingdom. It was truly many people on this board that led to our ultimate decision. Our friends who traveled with us were absolutely blown away by the quality and location of our room.

glad you enjoyed your trip.

though was going to read how awfully everything was....

So glad you liked our home so much! We had the same experience ... added on a little over a year after we bought, right after our 2nd stay (which was a 2 bedroom, #4500).

I do have to say I am jealous of you! I am waiting to own at VGC. Love that resort and am glad to hear that you had a great time there. Hopefully your name will be called soon and mine too--waiting so patiently!

Did you ever think about buying more points via resale? You could either save money for the same points or spend the same money and get more points. That disease "addonitis" is a b**ch, ain't it? I've caught it 4 times and have it again now! :rotfl2:

That doesn't sound like you would get many nights in a 2BR with that initial purchase. How long were you able to stay?

I suffered from addonitis twice. Frankly, I am feeling it again, but I'll have to wait a little longer. 525 pts are enough for now.

I've got 125 points at VGC too and have a 2 bdrm booked for 6 nights in February. We also managed a trip last year, end of August, and our son will be staying five nights in a studio in April/May. It's surprising how far 125 points can go.

VGC is tough resale because there are so many fewer contracts out there, a lot less points. Also, because many people end up not getting into VGC when they want to they like to have the direct privileges of the backup options of the DLH & PPH. And in addition, Disney has ROFR'ed some of the contracts because they do have that waiting list of people waiting to buy direct, so ...

I added on via resale right about the time VGC lucked out, but VGC resale points are going for higher now than when I bought (also before the resale restrictions). If I add on again, I'd want to do resale, but VGC is one of the few places where many times direct buying can make sense.

We love VGC too! The 2 bedroom units are wonderful. 3 full bath, two bedrooms, full kitchen, son loves the murphy bed and daughter loves the pull out couch... Sadly we are going on Dec 23rd but have to stay at the Sheraton Park Concierge. Even concierge at another hotel won't compare. Wish we could be at the Grand, but couldn't spend the points as I needed them for our trip in June.

We stayed in a 2BR at Aulani with another family in June at it was also amazing, you will love it! Beautiful rooms, but one less bathroom (boo!)

Luckily we have SSR points we can supplement at 7mo. 325 total points is perfect for us, have to resist the add on urge!

There is no cure for addonitis. It's all a big slippery slope from here.

Would you mind posting pictures of the room? Thanks!

Fort Collins... Awh I lived there when I was a kid.... Yay Dunn Washington Elementary!

So true..I am now 7 MONTHS into being on a VGC waiting list for more points in my use year...I have 225 and will have have 290 when (if) those points ever come in.
I'm glad you discovered DVC's true best kept secret, VGC, and hope you have many lovely vacations ahead. :)
