Thank You - All Who Honored Caskbill

:grouphug:

Yea Peg! So glad you're going to hang out with us. Our story is starting like yours and Bill's.... one trip and we've become addicted to everything Disney! Third trip in 3 years, and looking forward to planning our next trip.

I do hope you get to stay at THV soon, I would love to stay there as well. Let us know how it is when you get there! We too, love OKW and I can't imagine staying anywhere else, but my better half is a nature NUT so THV is right up his alley, just like the tropical feel of OKW is right up mine. So we will get there sometime.

SamSam Thank you for your kind thoughts...as Bill loved to help people who had questions or problems to solve...I guess that was the teacher in him shining through. We met as both teachers in our old high school that we had attended previously. All these years we have traveled to many DVC locations. I will post when I can put accurate information out there...otherwise I listen and read a lot.
Thanks again-
CaskPeg

hockeyprincess If your husband is a nature lover like my Bill was....you need to go to Hilton Head Island DVC as he would be entranced by the area. They use to give a naturalist tour of the place upon request. Not sure if they do it any more...but there is a nature preserve a short distance away that they do a 1/2 day--or at least a couple of hours guided trip to from the property by van. I think that he would enjoy that also. If you hop the van to the Beach House...you can rent bikes and ride to your heart's content as this is one of the best bicycling beaches around...or just play in the sand...or swim in the pool inside the beach house. Look and Investigate as it is truly a nature's paradise. If you are a shopper...outlet malls abound so there is a little for everyone.

Good Luck-

Welcome to the boards under your own name

Peg, Big welcome and hugs to the dis boards.

I'm looking forward to your posts and insights, and if you ever need any help from the chicagoland area, please reach out to me.

Best, GOldi

Hi, Peg, welcome! :grouphug:

I hope you will enjoy the disboards. I didn't post previously on this board regarding Bill (but did post on another one). He will be missed.

Welcome Peg. Bill will certainly be missed. I think of him every time I turn on my computer and see his programs on my desktop. Prayers for you and your family during this difficult time.

This sounds WONDERFUL!! Best of both worlds. I never knew this about HHI, I really appreciate the info and will look into planning a trip there very soon! And guess what, I love the ocean AND shopping!! :rotfl: Thanks again for the info! I don't know much about HHI or Vero but would love to check out the resorts. Sounds like HHI will win out first for our visit.

I am sorry for your loss. I did not realize just how a big of an impact caskbill Bill had. Thanks for coming to the boards I am sure it will help you heal as well.

I have been part of the DVC family for a long time--just a silent one that didn't post. Bill would occasionally call me into "the computer room" to see a post or to ask if he left something out. Now I have decided that I should share some insights with folks just like Bill did.

It is good to see you posting :goodvibes! I chuckled at this quote because I'm the primary poster in our house and my DH is the silent one but I think he feels just as much "on the boards" as I do (and you do, too!). Looking forward to reading your DVC and WDW insights.

RLRDA Sometimes...we just let our spouses "shine in their own areas" and then they excell beyond belief at what they do. So, it was with Bill(Caskbill) did..he had a niche of his very own to Shine in....I never questioned that as it was also his area of expertise.

Congrats on your upcoming trip to " the magical world of Disney" I will be making magic with our daughter's wedding...so it will also be magical for our family.

DearMickeyCrazed- I have been part of the DVC family for a long time--just a silent one that didn't post. Bill would occasionally call me into "the computer room" to see a post or to ask if he left something out. Now I have decided that I should share some insights with folks just like Bill did. I am not on his level with the computer..but then he started on his first when our daughter was 2 months old! (thirty years ago). Are you staying at Kadani Village at AK? If so you will love everything about it.
CaskPeg

That's funny because it is the exact opposite in our home. My DH is always the silent one in the background, and I always read my posts to him for his opinion. :goodvibes

Anyway, we are praying for the opportunity to stay in a 2 bedroom at Kadani in December. We are taking friends with us who will bring their grandchildren. (2 boys, 10 and 8). I just think it would be very magical for them to have a savannah view, and the opportunity to play in the pool area.

However, we may have to 'make do' with our crummy WL ressie! :lmao:

As others have expressed, I, too, think of him each time I see his program icons on my computer screen. He was very helpful and always gentle/mild. Hopefully your loss has been a bit easier to go through knowing how much so many people held him in esteem.

And, I, too, welcome you to the boards!

Welcome to the dis boards Peg  Thank you for sharing Bill with us these years. I hope you find comfort in coming here and being around "family". :grouphug:

I am originally from Davenport , IA....but my mother was born in Chicago and I have some cousins in the area. Small world isn't it!

Thanks for your greeting.

If you get into Kadani...you will love it. I did notice, however, that there is very little storage in the Kitchen of the one bedroom. So if you carry a lot of food for family you will be "cupboard challenged" for storage. The unit is truly gorgeous and the resort wonderful. When Disney does something...they do it right. You will especially like the kids water-play area near the pool for Kadani. Also the parking under the buildings is really nice in the warmer time (when we went in May.)
