I got a blood test yesterday at my doctor's office. I had a bunch of labs done earlier in the month, and the doctor decided to order another one based on the results from one of the tests. It was some kind of antibody screen or something. (It's an unusual test and the nurses didn't know.) Today I looked at the sheet they gave me when I was done. The price of that blood test was $915! :earseek: Fortunately, I think it will be free with my health insurance.

I know what you mean.

I have been getting the bills from my recent hospital stay when I had Nathan and I think they have totalled over $30,000 at this point and I am sure there are more to come.

Thankfully my portion has only been around $2000.

I agree! I had shoulder surgery July 1st. I just signed the papers and had whatever tests and procedures done. This includes MRI, x-ray and all the blood tests & pre-op stuff. The info and bills are still coming in, but, out of $14k+ we may only pay about $500 at this point. I still go to PT 3x's a week. Sure is nice to just go in and do the things they need me to and walk out.

This is something that came up suddenly and I had no choice but to have surgery. So, it is so nice to know we're covered.

Poohstyx

Lab work, x-rays and prescriptions are so outrageously expensive. I feel so bad for people who don't have insurance :(

Yikes, I'm just thankful that my new job will have all my medical needs covered. then again, we have universal health care (that doesn't always cover everything )

Health insurance is truly a blessing! I think my DS's birth was free, DD was suppose to be about $25 but they sent money back and I think we MADE money on her:D ! Some surgery I had was $10 one time cost, all followups included! I just wish my dental insurance was this good:rolleyes: !
