Hi Folks,

I'm between two minds (or three) as what to do in June.

Myself (22) and my 12 year old cousin are flying into CDG Terminal 1 at 9:45am.

I don't know whether we should get the VEA (which I have done before).. Book a shared shuttle (which is more expensive)... Or book the TGV which I have never done before.

I have used the CDGVAL before so I will be able to navigate the terminals and I also speak good French so if I need help I'll be able to ask....

But knowing my cousin she will have a big case of her own to bring around and we will be up since about 3:30am so a nap on the bus might be a benefit.

Also if we were to get the TGV, if we are scheduled to land at 9:45, what time TGV would you think we would need to book, bearing in mind we have to change terminals.

I traveled with a 11 year old in January but we booked ezyshuttle then as there was 4 of us. This time it is uneconomical to do this.
For those of you who travel with kids, from your experience which is the best option?

Thanks :goodvibes

VEA would be the cheapest option as it's 19€ and it will be quickish at that time as the roads will be clear.

The TGV is the faster option but there's no way of knowing how long it's going to take you to deplane, go through passports and then baggage claim so you'd either you take a flexible ticket which are more expensive or chance a time and use the ticket anyway (risking an possible but highly unlikely ticket control - never heard of it happening to anyone ;))

You can check fares at that time of day on the Sncf site, don't know if June is loaded yet but it will give you an idea :)

The shared shuttle is going to be the dearest but it's the most pain free way to do it

If you're happy to take the VEA and have a snooze on the bus, just do that :).

you might find its cheaper to take the TGV back from DLP to CDG - thats what we do (me and 10-year old DD).

At that hour of the morning I think I would love a snooze on the bus. But I think my cousin will be so hyper and excited that I wont get any sleep!

Carrie I know you probably haven't as you are lucky enough not to need them, but Elaine have you ever booked a shared shuttle with RSTrasnports? Do they wait at the gate for you? Are they efficient?

yes I've booked with rstransports 2 or 3 times now for a shared shuttle. We've never shared, and they are definitely quicker and more convenient than the VEA.
Last time they weren't waiting for us at our agreed meeting point, but I just called them and they were with us within about 5 minutes (they work out of CDG airport so are never far away). Both times before they were waiting for us as we came out of our arrival gate exit.

I'm arriving at CDG terminal 1 in June, and will probably book shared shuttle with rstransports for the outward journey again (we arrive on a Sunday so the VEA and TGV services would both involve waiting around in the airport) and get the TGV back.

Hmm I think i might do the same. I like the idea of being picked up asap and not waiting for a bus... And I dont like the idea of moving through terminals rushing for a train with a 12 year old..

Last question. Have you ever booked your tgv tickets and had them delivered to your house? I don't have a credit card, only a debit (laser) so I would use my dads card to book them and get them delivered.

yes, I always book my tickets for the TGV in advance and get them sent to my home address before we go.

Thanks Elaine, I think we will return to CDG via the TGV.

Our flight is at 9:40pm so I think the TGV at 6:32pm should be ok.

Thanks for the help! :goodvibes
