I've been reading the pros and cons of TGM and think I want to subscribe for our Christmas trip. All my concerns have been addressed in other threads except for one: between TGM's site and the DIS Boards, will I ever be able to get any work done? Or will I spend even more time researching, planning, and daydreaming about WDW while I'm at my desk? (I think my boss would prefer it if I don't subscribe!)

Seriously, though, how much time do the truly obsessed (like myself) tend to spend on the site?

To answer your question, NO! No, you won't be able to get any work done, she says, as she sits here reading and posting, as the dishes and laundry and bills and phone calls and errands pile up beyond belief...

My name is SnowWhiteRabbit and I have a problem...

:rotfl2:

Enjoy!

It's really hard to ignore the Disboards and TGM bookmarks when I log on each time. I spend waaaaaay tooooo much time between the two! I do go in spurts, though. It seemed, for a while, that I was at a standstill, just waiting to be able to get the park hours and make my ADR's, so I wasn't on as much. Then park hours came out and I've lived at TGM until I got to make my ADR's last week. Now I'm obsessed with analyzing his park touring and coming up with my own (never mind that I'm talking almost 6 months from now).

So, while I highly recommend TGM, and look forward to putting his skills to work, I can honestly tell you that it's extremely hard to get any "real" work done!

I've definitately become a Disboards and TGM addict!!!!!!!!! ***But it's so much fun!

I try to think of it as a "hobby" instead of an "addiction." :thumbsup2
Thanks for the re-frame! I just need more self-control. It's so hard to have 2 computers on my desk, both internet-ready, and not hear the calling of the DIS. If I add TGM to the list of temptations, whatever will I do? (Hmm, one computer for DIS Boards, one for TGM, and maybe someone else will do my work for me???)

I, too, am an utter addict to travel boards. However, I will say that with a December trip, you have plenty of time to absorb TGM. It takes a bit of time to learn to navigate the site, and there is SO much info there. If you go in stages, you'll do great. As you get your touring plan down, then you can dig deeper into the details (e.g. what row to sit in at a show, etc.) Go for it!

As I have said elsewhere, once your start using DIS and/or TGM and/or other resources, you have taken a fateful step. Before this we learn to tolerate longer lines and can still enjoy ourselves. Once we learn how to avoid longer lines, tour more efficiently, etc., we can no longer go back to the old ways without a knot in our stomach and clenched teeth while waiting in longer lines for things. We thus can't enjoy our trip unless we know we are avoiding the lines and staying ahead of the crowds.

Hence addiction is rampant. Welcome to the club. ;) I signed up for TGM a few months ago and am glad I did.

If you're already reading the DIS boards all the time, the TGM boards really don't add a ton of time. There are fewer postings there. I spend probably 4 times as much time going through the DIS postings as I do through the TGM ones.
