If I wear a size 8 in a women's shoe, would I wear a size 6 or 7 in a Teva youth shoe? I'm looking at the Hurricane 2 style, especially.

Just adding on....

I just found out that it is possible to wear a youth size in a Chaco or Teva shoe. The Chaco size 6 fits great, if that is any help.

Not sure about sizing, but I can tell you this:

Go with the Chacos.

I once wore my Tevas in WDW and within a few hours my feet were in agony. I recently discovered Chacos and bought myself a pair of Yampa Z/1sandals. From the moment I put them on (I wear a 9 1/2 men's, and sized up to 10 for excellent fit) my feet felt great. In fact, I wore them to WDW on July 4 (AK and Epcot) and had no discomfort whatsoever from 8:30 am to midnight when I got home. I think it has to do with the heel cup and the arch support, not to mention the secure strapping and spongy feel of the footbed.

The only caveat is that they're expensive, normally $100 but I had a $20 coupon. Still, $80 is well worth it because the workmanship is excellent and the comfort is without comparison. Oh, and for those days at WDW when you're caught in a downpour, typical for summer afternoons in FL, there's no worry--traction is excellent on wet surfaces, and the sandal straps and footbeds dry out fast.

I like both brands and wore both, switching off between days.

I know nothing about kids sizing.

Chacos have really strong arch support. If you have normal or high arches, I imagine they'd be great because so many people swear by them. I have fallen arches/flat feet and Chacos KILL me. I cannot wear them, and I want to wear them because I love the look. I have a pair but can't walk a lot in them, which defeats the purpose!

I love Tevas, though.

I have large (size 10-11) feet so I've never looked into kids sizes. You can get great deals on both brands on Sierra Trading Post, though, by signing up for their Deal Flyer codes. I think I got my Chacos for $45 and they're normally closer to $100.

No advice on the sizing, but Zappos.com offers free shipping both ways. So if you order the wrong size, you can return them for free.

Or look into Keen sandals. I felt silly when we first bought these, for use on a trip to the Dry Tortugas. We wanted something to protect our feet from sharp coral, shells, etc but possible to wear daily. I had seen so many people wearing these in Vermont on camping trips, and if I've noticed anything about most VTers is that they don't waste money! These tend to run around $80 a pair, but they fit great! There are different styles, and like someone else mentioned, we bought through Zappos. If we had issues with sizing or comfort we could return for free.

I can't wait to have these for the parks in Sept. as any afternoon rain won't require a return to the hotel for a shoe change! Bonus: these have toe protection so no stubbed toes in crowds or while adventuring!

We live in Tevas during the summer! Flip flops seems to run a little small, at least for adults.

Kids sandals (I have 3) seem to run about a half size large, adult sizes seem to be pretty accurate. I don't know how that would translate into converting an adult size to a kids.

Good luck!
