I found anytime I used to use the mic stuff, the other person would have something like running in the background that was annoying.
And I'd have to turn my music off.

My mother is very skeptical about the whole talking to people online thing, but...
whatever. I think she's fine with the DIS anyways.

I don't even bother with mics anymore...I just type it all.

My mom still isn't comfortable with the DIS thing. She came in while I was PMing Jess, and she's like, "DIS boards? I thought that you left that place? Who're you talking to?"

I exlpained to her that we were having a conversation with smilies. Which is true, we do that quite often.

I don't bother with them either.
Mostly because my webcam isn't plugged into my pc anymore.

My mum is mostly fine with it. She DIS's too, but she mostly just reads. I can say it's fine for me to talk to people on here, because she's arranged meets with people in the past... so I mean really.

When my parents come round the pc I close everything. Mostly because even if I have nothing to hide, I don't want them to know.

My family can be belittling sometimes, so I'm udner the impression they'd make fun of me.
Once I posted on the CanadianBoards and my mother saw it, and she made fun of me.
It's the only reason I hide my convos.

My dad once read the TB and saw my posts. He's like, "Popcorn? What's with your obsession? What's a Tag Fairy?"

I actually read some of the Candian and UK boards now. I dunno why, just for a change of scenery.

A long time ago, my parents decided to read my msn convo's and confronted me.
I was SO pissed. Like beyond belief. I still save my convo's, but I think they're in a folder that they wouldn't look to find.

I read the Canadian boards when the TB gets boring. There's usually nothing on the Canadian boards though.

And sometimes if I get pretend frustrated with friends they're like 'Hilary be polite! You are so rude, if I were them, I would never talk to y ou again after that!'

I have enough fake fights with my friends that my parents know not to take anything seriously. I like to joke around, and some of my friends take it pretty well.

My friends never take my seriously.
And my best friend doesn't mind half the rude stuff I do say.
So when my parents freak out at me, it makes me angry.

My dad makes me angry a lot. Last summer when I complained of being bored he told me to go make friends because I didn't have any =/
He hasn't done it in a while because of work, so he doesn't expect me to leave the house...

My dad doesn't use sarcasm.
My dad... he's a nice guy, but he doesn't like his job much, so sometimes he accidentally gets a little to snappy with me or my mother.
Never anything bad, but you know. It doesn't feel great.

I try to block him out, usually I just kind of try to tune him out and then go upstairs and curse under my breath.
It's hard though when parents do the 'Do you understand me?' and they actually want you to say yes.
Can't they be happy with silence?
