Hi all,

So I know some of you may hate me for saying this, but know I'm not the only one who feels this way:

I HATE THE NEW TEST TRACK! BRING BACK THE TEST DUMMIES!

The first time I rode it and didn't like it a few years ago I thought it was just the initial shock, but when I rode it again this August, I still wasn't a fan.

It probably didn't help our 'fasts' took over an hour. I felt the design room and whole idea of designing your own car just created longer wait times for everyone. The fastpass line barely moved quicker than the standby, and once we left the design room it was basically a free for all for whoever pushed to the front of the line--no regard for fastpass or not. Once I got to the ride I was already annoyed, and the fact that NONE of our designs showed up during the ride just made things worse.

Sigh, I just want old Test Track back:confused3:confused3

Where were you expecting them to show up? They don't. They show up at the end when you stop to interact with the computer screens after the ride.

Designing things is just a silly silly thing to hide the time you're spending in line.

I haven't been since they changed this ride. Do you "have" to design a car? What if you just skip that part? I have no idea how it works, but I've heard others who think this part is just a pain. TIA.

My understanding is if you do the single rider liner line you can skip the design part. I hate the design part and may just do single rider for our November trip.

We tried asking to skip the design step last time and they told us no ... it helps flow the line traffic like the pre shows in Haunted Mansion, Tower of Terror, RNRC etc
I hate it, too, but my son loves it so I do it for him

I concur 100% Definately not on our to-do list for our next visit. TT used to be an "at least once per trip" for me. Now it became a "one and done."

I agree completely. I never got the chance to ride the Old Test Track but I didn't see the current edition as a "test" track at all. Simply put it doesn't make sense.

That's actually a fantastic point I never thought about! You're totally right; it's no longer a "Test Track" and the name loses meaning and is now confusing to those who don't know the old version.

I like the new test track. The updates make it feel more modern. I'm not crazy about the car design part, but my kids like it, so I try to not get annoyed while I wait for the doors to open.

One thing I don't miss about the old ride was the part where it got super hot...really unnecessary discomfort.

Eh. Different strokes, etc, etc. The slowness of the FP line isn't usual and could have been due to several things, including a ride stoppage before the OP got in line. I don't care about the design phase, but DH is like a kid with a new toy. I like it as well as the old one, if not more. I certainly don't miss the old hot room or the corrosion test. And I quite like the Tron like effects.

I remember riding this for the first time and saw two groups of people that were supposed to be at the #1 & 2 computer stations just stayed at the monitors for 20-30 seconds before they exited the doors to the ride. I don't believe they designed any cars. I think the doors are unlocked in the design room so you could theoretically walk out once the entrance doors close.

I love new test track! I love designing the cars. I like seeing the different designs other people come up with. The only thing I really remember from the old TT is the totally annoying music in the queue (omg!) and the nasty smell of corrosion in the one part of the test track (bleh!). It's one of my favorites now.

While I don't "hate" the new Test Track, I basically agree with the OP. I actually miss the environmental tests room (not sure why). I do think the touch screen "time wasting" car design is more appealing to kids of this generation, so I understand why they added that part. But I prefer the old ride theme.

I like it as well as the old one, if not more.

I like the new one much better. The ride itself is about equal, maybe a slight preference for the old one just in terms of ride. But the new queue absolutely blows away the old one. The music, the walk through, and the design your car station put the old line to shame.

I guess if you don't care about queues at all, maybe the old TT wins for you.

Another family here that prefers the old track. I'm not sure why we don't like the way it is now. It truly is the same ride, it just doesn't seem to make sense.

I thought the track was the same, that they just changed the scenery?

OP, your title is misleading - there was no 'trouble' at Test Track, you just don't like it.

It's still a "test" track. The whole idea of the ride is to test your designs using the computer simulation as you ride through. Don't the designs with the rating each one got still show up after each of the 4 parts of the test (showing efficiency/power etc...)? Memory may be fuzzy on this....but it's still definitely a TEST track. I like it. The old version certainly had more personality, but the new version is fine.
