how frowned upon would it be or maybe a better question, how often does this actually happen?

family of 3 (with a 5 year old) enters the single rider line. chances of all three of us getting on together probably slim, but obviously we can't all three three go single so my wife/I would need to ride with my daughter.

disney social taboo or does this kind of thing happen a lot

usually when people try this, its a group of teenagers and adults that don't mind riding alone. The previous post is correct that she likely needs to be older to ride alone and when you get to the front of the single rider line, they'll remind you of this and send you out of line. You're much better off doing fastpass plus or standby than taking a chance in single rider. that's the point...to be a single rider. not to try and scam the line and end up together. :dance3:

Single riders fill in available single seats and it is made very clear when you enter the line that you will be riding alone! There is no chance that you will end up riding with a member of your traveling party however you "may" be in the same car.

Since your daughter is not old enough to ride alone she won't be allowed into the single rider line at all.

Exactly this. You will have to wait until she is 7 to do this.

Cast members have asked my brother to make sure he is 7, so they will probably ask your daughter as well

Even if she was 7, if you "need" to ride together, you would be sent to the regular line. They are used to people trying this trick.

How long is the single rider line on a day when the stand by line is 100 minutes--anyone know? We did not get FP we are doing MK and EPCOT on the same day--but got our FP's at MK. We are a big party and hope that it will be quicker to ride single rider! We don't care if we go seperate--we don't want to way over an hour if we don't have to!

Your daughter will not be allowed beyond the entrance to the single rider line. :sad2:

Most of the time in my experience its about a 20 minute wait, sometimes later in the day you basically walk on. If its longer than 20-30 minutes we usually do something else and come back because it always goes down.

MY 19 year old daughter and I were at the parks last month (3/15-3/18). The line was over an hour, I do remember that, Single rider said 25 minutes i think and we literally walked on to the ride. And we were not in the same car at all

I can't say for Test Track, but we had a Dad and son ahead of us at the single rider line at RSR at Disneyland try that trick last summer. They were not stopped at the entrance, but after a 15 minute wait, they were stopped at the front of the ride where they direct you to the cars and told no- either the kid went somewhere by himself and waited for Dad to ride or no one was riding. I am sure there are people who try this quite a bit thinking they will get by with it, but in my opinion it is not the right thing to do. It is definitely frowned upon and there is a 95% chance that they will stop you either before you get in the line or when you get to the cars. It is highly unlikely they let you cheat the system and definitely not the thing to even try to do- although I understand the frustration with the FP+ tiers with a kid under 7.

Actually since FP+ and tiering you will find a lot of families with 7 year olds and up in the single rider line. We do it with DD and it stinks that we don't get pictures together, but we all love Soarin and we use our FP+ on it, so when the choice is 60 or 90 minutes in standby or 15 or 20 in single rider for TT, we take single rider every time. There are typically plenty of other families with kids 10 and under in the single rider line with us. Since DD was used to it at TT, we rode RSR at DLR a ton of times in single rider on our trip last summer.

Our family of 5, with our 8 year old being the youngest, went in the single rider line quite a few times last fall. Most of the time were weren't seated next to each other, but sometimes the numbers didn't work for the ride CM's and they would send 2-3 of us in the same car to fill in the seats, sometimes next to each other.

Not sure exactly how long if the line is 100 minutes. When we go it is anywhere from 45-60 minutes and I always use the single rider line and walk right on each time. This is why I never FP Test Track, and alwayh FP Soarin.. because I use the single rider and always get on right away. It would most likely be longer if the standby is 100 minutes.

Yeah, we learned the same thing last year. Since we've been on Test Track enough times as a family, we don't mind (too much) breaking up and going through the single rider line together. You miss the in depth car design, which is a bummer, but you do get through the ride much faster!

Knowing us, we would probably rope drop Soaring and also get a FP for Soarin, and then single rider test track.

Here's a secret! At the exit, where there are all the games and interactive things to do, there are like 3-4 kiosks where you can design your own car just like in the regular stand by line. Go there, design your car, load it on your magic band, then go through the single rider line. When you get to your vehicle, it's just like you went through the regular standby! No more missing out! My guys love to design their cars and that's the one thing we hated about the single rider! You can even sneak through the gift shop before your first ride, do this, and go to single rider.

A 5 year old won't even be permitted to use the single riders line.

Single riders must anticipate that they will be split from their parties, and children need to be at least 7 years old to ride alone.

Even if the child were 7, it is made very clear to riders in the single riders line that they should NOT expect to ride together. Requesting to do so isn't permitted. Guests who demand that they ride with another member of their party are generally sent back to the standby line.

That's awesome! Thank you. I'll have to remember this!
