Test Track refurb?

:confused3 Was there a post deleted by a Mod?

I've kept out of most of the threads. I don't know if any posts were deleted, but I know some threads have been closed on the subject already. Warnings have been issued to not restart a new thread. Robo's has been allowed to go on for now. No telling how long this one will last. I understands everyone's main frustration, but it is what it is and we just have to go with it.

Yea, it was disappointing when I went and HM was closed, another year Space Mountain was closed. I would be so upset this year, SAB is mostly closed for refurbs.

What??? SAB is closed? What are the dates? November is starting to look better and better.

Nevermind, I just caught up on the thread already going about the probable refurb. Wish we would have had more notice.
~At least, you found out before your trip! Many visitors wont find out until they get there! Head straight to Soarin' and get that FP (in you intend to ride)! Have fun! :goodvibes

EXACTLY! There's always more than enough to do to take your mind off the closed Test Track. hehe GO EARLY IN THE MORNING! usually less than 10 min wait in the early morning. Get the rides over with in the morning lol Soarin gets ridiculous crazy long wait later on in the day.

Nope.

The "unhappiness" of post #4 & #8 appears to be directed at post #3 suggesting the complaint to Disney.

Tell that to Universal about Jaws

Look on the bright side. Chances are we'll see a second WWoHP where JAWS used to be in USF.

By the way, did you hear the news? Disney has a Phase 2 of the FLE. They are expanding it into Epcot.;)

Nope.

I just wasn't sure who "you" was? :confused3

Because it seems everyone is unhappy how they this went down. :thumbsup2

SAB is not going to be completely closed, but about half (the sandy bottomed part and the slide) of the pool complex is closed for 2 weeks, scheduled to reopen about the 23rd. Shuttles are available to the Boardwalk pool slide during that period.

I am not saying that no attraction should be closed during "my" stay. Last time we were there, Space Mountain was closed. No biggie. Unfortunately, two headliners that are on my family's Top 5 are closed during our trip, which is a bummer. Of course, things are going to close for rehab from time to time. I just wish that we had had more official notice, just so we can manage expectations. Yes, if you dig for it, there are statements, but it should have been front and center on the site. It just said "TBD" which isn't cool. Also, I'm sad that there were rumours that the rehab was going to be delayed because it got my hopes up! LOL

We are going to go, and have a great time, regardless. Hope everyone is having a great day.

Nope.

And people should complain - the situation was handled poorly by Disney and guests were not given common courtesy.

Folks keep defaulting to "don't complain a ride is closed" - well no one said complain a ride is closed. That happens, we all know that happens.

People are upset that Disney didn't give adequate notice a ride would be closed, didn't put it on their website ahead of time, and even as of this very minute hasn't posted jack diddly about it anywhere that can be read to update people about the closure.

They deserve complaints saying that crap wont fly.

Also - for people saying that they think Imagination/Energy should have gotten a refurb first.. heck, what about Wonders? ... well, why defend that by saying that's not how Epcot works?

We are the consumers. It is NOT our job to defend Disney's profits. They make plenty of money. Bob Iger has said, I quote you, "it's not a lack of a funding, rather creative capital" when it comes to parks and resorts projects. They have all the money in the world to throw at parks and resorts. Disney as a company chose to be thrifty in their choice this time, but as a consumer we don't have to accept that as the "right" decision.

If there are better decisions to be made for us as consumer we need to be asking for those - not what's just best for Disney in the short term for their profits.

We'll be there and it sux. But somehow, I'll manage to remember there the rest of Walt Disney World available to me.

Excuse me, but there are these things called shareholders who expect a return on their investment. Mr. Iger and the BoD report to them first and foremost. It's a delicate balance b/w satisfying both shareholders and consumers, and as a Di$ney shareholder, I can assure you that the ROI on DIS has not been great the past ~10 years. However, the Mouse does pay a nice dividend with those profits. :) And 'all the money in the world'? Hardly. We're not talking about the US government. ;)

Well, as -not a shareholder- you can worry about your dividend on your own time and I'll not spend an extra penny of my vacation dollars until Disney overall quality improves.

Which really, should be a much much bigger concern for you.

It's not just that one ride, though. Test Track draws large crowds which will now be diverted to the other attractions, increasing wait times throughout the park. And since EPCOT does not have many headliners, I'm afraid of what this is going to do to the wait for some of the other more popular rides.

THIS is the bottom line for me. It's not the refurbishment itself that's bothering me. It's the lack of proper notice despite them having this information several months ago. Planners like to know what to expect when they are forking up big bucks to visit a resort. I'm only going to Disney for a few days and I don't want unanticipated closures/crowds to ruin my carefully constructed agenda. The Test Track closure will cause a ripple effect through the whole park. Other rides will be forced to pick up the slack. As a result, many people will probably miss out on other attractions.

Actually, I'm more concerned about the marketing and naming behind John Carter, which was a decent flick that epic failed @ the box office in Ishtaresque fashion. The Walt Disney Company was founded on movie making, not theme parks entertainment. And to paraphrase WED, the parks will never be finished. It's a continual process of improvement and tweaking the guest experience (hopefully for the better). Can they give it away for free? Nope. Am I happy that TT will be closed for refurb when we are there in June? Nope. Will it keep me away from the parks? Nope. Did they screw the pooch announcing it? Yup. Call them, write them to voice your displeasure. The posting of vitriol here does little to change anything other than perhaps lower your blood pressure.

Out.
