Test Track refurb?

Nevermind, I just caught up on the thread already going about the probable refurb. Wish we would have had more notice.

I highly recommend contacting Disney and expressing your disappointment over their unwillingness to be more forthcoming with information about this closure. Projects like these take upward of 3+ years worth of planning and consideration prior to the closure date. None of it comes as a surprise to Disney. They simply chose not to inform any of us prior. They need to know that you are disappointed.

This is a joke right?

Nothing beats fun at WDW!

Tell that to Universal about Jaws

I'm starting to remember why I don't come to this board any more. I'm a little confused, do you think they should rearrange the refurb schedule to meet your needs, you, one of 50 million visitors a year? You know what, I'm going to unsubscribe before I get another infraction. Just note the world doesn't revolve around you.

Probably. Disney told you in January that it would close IN THE SPRING AND REOPEN THIS FALL.

Yes but if you read the other huge thread on this they have made every effort to confuse and befuddle the issue.

To the point that Robo started that other thread to see if CM's were told not to report to work at TT on April 16th.

When they were told not to report, that was the first real confirmation that TT was to close that date. After that confirmation a real person for Disney finally said yes it would close.

Doesn't seem to me it was a spur of the moment closure - I have known about it for awhile - they ALL have to have down times for refurbs, so someone is bound to be peeved it happened during their ressies. Just have to relax and go with the flow pixiedust:

:confused3 Was there a post deleted by a Mod?

I'm not understanding the big deal. It's just 1 ride with many others to choose from. If someone is planning their entire vacation to Disney around 1 ride, that's an awful lot of money to spend. The closing effects my family's upcoming trip, but it's not the end of the world.

I guess I am one of those weirdos who does plan their vacation somewhat around refurbs. We go to Disney at least once or twice a year and have some flexibility of when we can go so it makes sense to me that we wouldn't want to go when 2 of our favorite rides will be closed if we can go 6 months later and they will be open.

I actually postponed a trip in January to April because so many of my daughter's favorite attractions were going to closed- Big Thunder Mt., Dumbo, Barnstormer, Fantasmic, and the Main St. Electrical Parade were all due to be closed the week we had originally planned to come.

Having Test Track and Big Thunder both closed is not a deal breaker for us, but if I would have known it for sure a month ago I might have considered changing our trip to September.

I just feel like we've kind of been jerked around a little about Test Track's refurb. First it was going to happen, then it wasn't, and now who knows for sure?

This is the first I'm actually hearing of the test track refurb (last time I went was this past December 2011). I understand that many people go to Epcot expecting to ride the Test Track attraction and I usually ride it 2-3 times every visit, BUT seriously IT IS ABOUT TIME for a refurb! That video that they play prior to getting on the ride was from the 80's, I really hope they change that. :worship:

And those of you disappointed, don't be! You'll probably be back to Disneyworld more than once in your lifetime! My very first time to Disney, Space Mountain was closed for renovation and I was very sad, but I got to ride it the 2nd time I went back.

It's not just that one ride, though. Test Track draws large crowds which will now be diverted to the other attractions, increasing wait times throughout the park. And since EPCOT does not have many headliners, I'm afraid of what this is going to do to the wait for some of the other more popular rides.

Yea, it was disappointing when I went and HM was closed, another year Space Mountain was closed. I would be so upset this year, SAB is mostly closed for refurbs. It is disappointing and we should be able to express our disappointment without being chastised and accused of being selfish! We are being selfish, we want our favorite rides open when we go to DW! :rotfl2:
We, of course, still have our fun while at disney world, and will still go despite the refurbs, but it stinks when our favorite parts are closed during (some of) our infrequent trips. If I were going this year, I would be disappointed too! But enjoy your trip, I know you will have a good time anyways!

I think there is a whole lot more that could have been "updated" in Epcot rather than Test Track. JMO though :)

If one ride is being refurbished, its natural that people will be at another ride but EPCOT itself's main attraction are not really the rides per se and there are a few other "big shot" rides like Mission Space. But chances are at Epcot, people will just allow themselves more time to stroll around and visit the showcases.

I agree, but keep in mind that because of the corporate sponsorship, it's not really the same as, say, Disney deciding between doing a rehab on BTMRR or Splash. I'm willing to bet that GM/Chevrolet is footing most of the bill for the Test Track "re-imagining", or else it probably wouldn't even be happening at all.

I just wanted to point that out, since I've seen other comments on Twitter and other message boards and whatnot about how Disney should instead be putting the money towards a rehab for an attraction that "really needs it" like Imagination or Energy, but a lot of people don't realize that with Epcot it doesn't really work that way. If the sponsor wants to refurb the attraction that has their name on it, then that's the attraction that's gonna get the attention.

Oh dear. Just when the pain was going away someone had to remind me.... :sad1:;)

Where as I am not one of those weirdos who plan a trip around refurbs, I am keen to know when TT is going to reopen. Purely for the fact that I want to know what I can and can't go on when we go in Sept. I've gave up waiting for an announcement on that so could someone wake me up when they know?

I think it was always going to happen from when they originally anounced it, more of a case of 'when' not 'if'. Oh well plenty more rides to go on and whislt everyones in the big queue for Soarin I shall be riding everything else. :goodvibes
