I'm STILL trying to plan our morning strategy for Epcot, and just had a flashback to our last visit. Perfect plan: send mom to pick up Soarin FP while I take DS to Test Track. But, Test Track is broke down and mom already got our Soarin FP. Anyway...

I know that Test Track has frequent break downs, but wondering if it is common first thing in the morning. Don't the CM's come in early to get the rides ready???

We have had it happen too where it does not open till maybe noontime. It has frequent problems, and sometimes they cannot get it going first thing in the morning. Sorry it messed up your good planning....:(

Do the opposite this year. Get FP for Test Track and get in line for Soarin', if it's first thing in the morning, you should be doing ok on wait times in stand by line. This way if TT isn't working, the most you've done is gotten a wee bit more exercise.

TT has always been broken in the mornings on our trips. It's generally going by noon - I don't know why it's always got morning problems - I don't think it's pregnant or anything. ;)

OK, stupid joke. It's early. :sunny:

Sounds like this isn't so uncommon, so Test Track will no longer be our first stop.

Thanks!

Was it raining when it was broke? as Test Track does not run in the rain.

Test Track was down the entire morning of my last visit to Epcot at the end of March. We got fastpasses which the CM said would be good any time that day. When we returned to Epcot later that evening TT was up and running with a 3 hour wait in the standby line and a 90 minute wait for single riders. With our fast passes we were on in 15 minutes. I think it's almost always best to get a fastpass for Test Track.

Heck the entire HISTORY of TT is that it is "down" many, many, MANY times.

It was about 2 YEARS LATE opening for the first time.
The vehicles are so high-tech (and "touchy") that they just can't seem to get them to "all run at once".

Its almost a standard joke for many WDW vets to say, "Wow, don't know what's going on at Test Track... It was OPEN nearly all day today." :goodvibes

BTW, the same kind of motor and drive-system used at TT, was used at Disneyland in the amazing attraction called "Rocket Rods"...
Never HEARD of it? Not surprising...
it was broken down so MUCH that they simply closed and REMOVED the entire attraction about a year or so after its much-ballyhooed (and EXPENSIVE) creation and premiere!

We were lucky enough to actually ride that "E-Ticket" attraction before they finally "pulled" it.
It was FANTASTIC!

Look HERE:
http://www.yesterland.com/rocketrods.html

It took place (at high -speed) on the (former) "People-Mover" tracks that circled Tomorrowland, high above the guests walking below (they call the "People-Mover" the "Tomorrowland Transit Authority" now at WDW's MK) ...

GREAT -when the Rocket Rods where actually MOVING-.
But once they STOPPED due to malfunction (which was quite frequently) there was NO EXIT path for guests out on those narrow tracks.
They had to SIT and WAIT (sometimes for an hour. or so!!!) until the CM's could "limp" the cars back to unload.

At least at Epcot, when Test Track "stops" (and it does so frequently), the guests can "walk away" if need be.

So sad that Rocket Rods could not "perform" at DLR. Otherwise, I'm sure we would have had these amazing Rods at WDW's MK now, instead of the TTA.
