I've posted part 1 of my epic trip report (1st ever, I suck @ narratives) on Trip board, come on down.

Sign me up for secret santa thingie...but I'm not buying any thongs! I'm slow, you'll have to walk me thru it as to whether there's a set $ amount, appropriate items (gag gifts)...how about a recap of last years' haul if anyone remembers?

mic find one of those magic 8 balls for an answer, always works for me.

i think we have set either a $20 or $25 limit.
someone help me out here on the amount.

we only post when we receive our parcel but don't say where it came from or who sent it.

then on a certain agreed date, we spill the beans.

that subject comes up every now and again, and we all have a laugh...and actually I think a dear someone in our herd still has one of the "twins"...

KS, gifts usually are something that we think our "giftee" likes and is suited to them personally, it can be fun, personal or just something you think they would like.......honestly, the "twin" gifts had to be the ultimate in gift giving and good golly, there wasn't but one, but two of them

Gag gifts are resereved for April Fools Day gag gift secret pals. I thought the limit was $30 and the purpose of the secret santa is to think of something special about the person you get and buy them something significant to them.

For example: If it is a mass produced homemade product please don't send it to more than one person and have it be cracked or broken.

a topping for the perfect day, my hot water tank died...

water, water everywhere; have to clean up the basement (wth) and go off to buy one...wonder if Lowes installs them? Haven't had to put one in since the early 80's; do have I to think about what model to buy or do they just hand you one? OMG, I hate making appliance decisions, they always see us coming.

middle DS threw a snit fit because I'm missing his team's football game....yeah, right; I really wanted to stay home & decide what what stuff to toss & which to save; looks like a flood hit.

that's what I get for taking the day off laundry detail, serves me right.

please tell me we don't have to make a homemade gift (no-one would want anything I'd craft - fer sure). once you all sort it out, let me know...oh, the pressure, I'm cracking

We are staying at POR Friday night, AKL 10/21 Cruise 10/22-26, BWV 10-26-28 then end our trip at the RPR and doing US/IOA and HHN.

when i know who we all have in our exchange i will draw for names. I am on the ball this year that way we have awhile to figure out what to get....i know some of us will still wait till the last minute that is how i operate

but for our secret santa exchange, if yu don't know the person well enough then you ask the person that gave you the name or do like i do and scroll back pages to see if there was anything that person said they liked.

what ever amount you want to decide on just let me know.

i think it was ocm and pam that handles the christmas exchange.

i will go along with what those two decide and tell us.




in the past, we receive the name of our person right around thanksgiving time and mail out by dec 15th at the latest.

i feel your pain about the basement flooding. it is just an awful thing to go thru.


i have been there twice when sh forgot to plug the sump pump cord back in.
yea i remember the last time as it was yesterday. last time that bone head did it was a few days before my motherland trip.....



i think loews delivers and for an extra fee, they install.
we ordered one last year and paid a handyman to install ours.
then had the city come out to inspect it to make sure it was installed correctly. just a service our town does for homeowners.

Damn...Anyway....I'm not too sure what a "secret santa" is since I am relatively "new" to these boards! So count me in! I like exchange thingys!

swim?? heck, I've been treading water most of my life

I just got done negotiating with Lowes plumber...

Lowes has such a backwards way of doing things, if it wasn't for the free financing, I'd skip it...

you go to the store & give them your name/phone number,

they give it to a contractor/plumber (who schedules a lookie see, site inspection),

then you go back to the store to pick out a tank & plumber picks it up & installs it...whole process is supposed to "only" take a week.

plumber's coming out tomorrow evening "after his real job" & just wing it & install w/o the preliminaries...don't ask, don't tell IMO. Absurd that a big box store can screw up such a simple thing.

deena - sounds like a tres cool adventure! Take pics of Capt. Jacks boat @ CC. Always wanted to try AKL, not sure whether DVC is a done deal there or not? Think we've got RPR on for next summer for a few nights...HRH has become far too pricey.

mac - where did you stay @ Universal this trip? What's up with BTF, is it closed as was reported for work on new Simpsons ride?

pam & ocm - figure it out & let us santas romp...I'm still fuzzy, what a dolt lol.

mic - did they set you free yet?
