pam - mmmm....taco salad, might have to make that this week! So DS is good @ "expressing himself";) My youngest DS is in the raging hormone phase...keep telling myself it's temporary. If only they could skip the horrible 2's & most of teenage years...

my ds told me he expected me to make it....so i guess i need to make it, but it is very yummy!

one of my ds were awful in his 2's but the other one wasn't so bad...maybe his brother just broke him in for me! we are getting ready to go through those teenage years and i have to tell you....i am nowhere ready for them.....wish i had a few more years!

hi jules!

okay, i am really off this time...remember what i said......no getting into trouble!!!!!! Got it OCM!?!?! :teeth:

Hey everyone... :wave2:

Jules, did you put your face on? Have fun at grandma's today...

Adam, glad you dropped by on this festive of American Holidays....I've seen my share of fireworks the last few days....... :cool1:

Camping, well, I told you all how I feel about it...I think it's neat though if you enjoy it

I guess the boys went through that whining stage too, heck, they can still whine and they are grown ups ;)

Grandson called me this morning to tell me he is going on the potty like a big boy! He turned 2 in March, so I'm thrilled for him (and his mommy & daddy). He was upset, I had sent him some Disney undies, and he had wet in his Nemo ones, he didn't like Bruce being wet........what a great training tool!! :teeth: They still have some work left to get him totally trained, but he seems to be off to a good start. Big brother was a rascal to get trained, he was like a spawn of the devil about it...just didn't want to cooperate at all.

Happy 4th!

Its pouring here so I dont know if we can go see some fireworks tonight or not. Several cities around had canceled them for a later date.

mic - luv the "no whining" sign:goodvibes

Youngest DS was a bear to train on #2. We finally did it the old fashioned way & bribed him with the new Toy Story VHS. When we took him to buy it he was beaming & clutching the video...; proudly telling everyone we passed that he "...went *oop in the pot like a big boy!". Most of the women just smiled & praised him but, the poor old guy in line behind us turned about 3 different shades. Guess he didn't know what to say, finally bust out laughing.

Of course, we've never let DS forget that story.:teeth:

KS, potty training stories are fun...........your's especially :goodvibes

My DIL said that the baby said to her the other day "I like wearing diapers and I'm NOT going on the big boy potty"...alrighty then.....LOL...he has been bribed too, with cookies.......he runs to the potty then looks at my son, "where is my cookie"...they learn some things very quickly ;)

Deena, hope fireworks aren't rained out, what a bummer if you had plans...they did ours here in town on Saturday..I know, they always do stupid stuff here, so people aren't inconvienced.....ummm...July 4th is July 4th, that is Independance Day, not July 1st...oh well.........

Ok, all these reanactors for Gettysburg have come to Pa from all over the country for this big show (battle) on the 4th, well they decided to cancel it at the last minute because of all the rain......people had already flown in from the west coast and all over the country! It is a mess....300,000 visitors were expected in Gettysburg this weekend! Nothing to see as far as the reanactment goes. Nope, no plans to trek up there for me...it will even have the highways around here packed. We live about an hr. from there.

We would be disappointed to miss the fireworks but the worse part for me is the mosquitos. UGH  They are already bad and the last thing we need is more rain.

mic -too bad about the encampment cancellation. DS was there few years ago during that time w/cub scouts camping. They were supposed to do the ghost tour but, it got cancelled. Now, that I'd like to see! What an interesting part of the country you live in. Too bad disney never got to put in the park near Manassas due to preservationists (which I hear is now the site of an outlet mall LOL). When we drive south via Winchester, we always marvel how far out the Washington 'burbs extend...near the big Geico bldg. I'm told. That would be a heck of a commute IMO.

It's gotten so bad, mainly due to the cost of housing, that people have moved out to WV and are communiting from out there to DC everyday. That would be a two hour commute each way, on the train.

The one thing I have to say, DC has excellent trasportation systems for that. THe Marc train does extend to very far and the VRE (virginia's transportation system) extends as far out as Fredricksburg. Plus, the metro really extends farther out into the suburbs than most of the other major cities.

Ok I admit it. Pam still whines too :lmao: :lmao:

AWE..I hated training Julie. So, I am glad that she is having an easier time with it. Very cute about not wanting to get bruce wet. :teeth:

DH's family lives in Arlington, work in DC, are died-in-the-wool southerners who proudly proclaim their lineage back past the Civil War (of course they were on the side that seceeded). Me, I'm 2nd generation from the old country ala hunky-dunky. Family all makes obscene salaries...of course the prices of the homes are outlandish compared to our neck of the woods, so it probably all evens out in the end.

Although the market has slow down some since it was red hot. But when i was moving, two years ago people were actaully bidding 60-75k over the asking price of the house (which was already insane). Houses were selling in 3-5 days, depending on the neighborhoods.

Yes, 6 figures in GA or PA isn't the same as 6 figures back home. If housing is only suppose to be 1/3 of your income to get a 300k house you would need to be making 6 figures. Well, the problem with that up there is most normal housing goes for about min 400k. And that isn't in Montgomery County or Fairfax county. Those houses go for at least 50-80k more.

beleive me, it all really does even out.

Pam and I were comparing preschool prices once, and mine was insanely more than hers was..and that isnt daycare, just preschool.

Cost of living is rediculous up that way.

:lmao: that is so cute!
ks-got the pierogie tag when i posted to someone who said they were having stuffed cabbage for dinner.

housing prices are terrible on Long Island. so mamy people are selling their homes, moving to North Carolina. They're having homes built and with PLENTY of money left over.
They're going to start calling North Caolina-South Lond Island!

Got some cool birthday gifts from my aunt while at grandma's, a sephora gift card (yay can buy more face to put on :woohoo: ), and one of my favorite things, funky socks :sunny: . Change of plans for tonight. I'm staying home. Was going to go to my aunt's house to watch another uncle (as apposed to watching the uncle at the cottage possibly blow his hands off :P) possibly blow his hands off. I decided I'd rather stay home and watch "real" fireworks on tv, than see "fake" ones in person. I'm wondering if there going to cancel the A-town fireworks tonight too, it's been drizzling off and on, and it looks like there's a storm brewing. So anywho, here I am  . Although, I am a teeny bit buzzed :drinking1 , so I kind of just want to go to sleep :cloud9: .
