TEST (part 2)

Morning all!!

pam - is the cruise adults only? It's really not that far away & it gives you tons of time to pay it off:thumbsup2

Yes, it is adults only. That is how my sister wanted it...i tried to fight to bring the kids but majority ruled and i lost:confused3 I hate leaving my kids especially when I know that they would have a blast where we are going. I told Dave that if we like the cruise maybe we would book another one with the kids.

tony--glad to see ya. Hope it slows down for ya soon.

mac--have a fun trip!

We have parent teacher conf. tonight for all 3 of the kids. Noah and Aubrey's are at the same time so we will split for that. Neither one of us wants to go to Trent's though.:sad2: He has had quiet the year and not sure I want to hear what the teachers have to say.:scared: Actually, it will be a broken record and they will all say the same thing...smart kid just needs to apply himself....isn't it part of their job to find a way for him to apply himself?!?!?:confused3

What does everyone have planned for Easter? We have to go to sunrise service to watch Trent put on a play and then we will have breakfast there. We will probably come home and see if the Easter bunny came and then head out to my aunts. Seems like every year for the past 4 years i have had strep over easter.....lets hope i break the pattern this year:upsidedow

Have a good day everyone!

TVT, yes we have missed you.. had no idea you were doing school...good luck...is it true? you can teach an old dog new tricks;) :upsidedow

Pam, your trip sounds awesome...I'm old school I guess, and I know how you feel about the kids, we never took a trip w/o the boys, I always felt guilty traveling w/o them...and now that they are grown and away from home, I'm glad we did so much together and with them, but that is just me :goodvibes and I know with both parents that work etc., it's nice to have time alone.

KS, we got an awesome deal at the Poly, but still, it is alot, but I'm so looking forward to it..now if SW would open up fares for our dates, I'd really be a happy camper...but also hope they fix all those sloppy planes they've continued to let fly ;) As I always ponder though, more chance of being in a car wreck everytime I get in my car then a plane crashing;)

Mac, hope you have the bestest time and getting lei'd is kewl:banana:

You heard my plans for Easter...no egg hunts or nothin' now that we are all adults, but I still dye eggs  For some reason that still is a ritual, and I'll use the eggs for macaroni salad so dying them does have a purpose:thumbsup2

you & the kids will enjoy the break;) , bet they'll be raring to go once u tell them how much fun you had!

reminds me of middle DSs reviews...many times i just wanted to phone it in, he's turned out ok (so far lol)

we should've gone on vacation:rolleyes1 every year i tell DH we should go away for Easter instead of the hot summer in FLA. He sez he want to spend it with his family, who evidently is once again not going to "show up" since i haven't heard from beloved SIL.:headache: oh well, pressure is off now for me & i'll just stick the extra meat in the freezer:idea:

we still do egg hunts, DS enjoy romping thru the back yard finding money in the plastic eggs:rotfl: , i get the giggles watching them hustle for a few bucks.

the poly is very ritzy! on my bucket list-someday. As for me, SW can wait until July to open up the schedule, guess it's near the end of next month for the release?

They're in different leagues, so they wouldn't play. ;) A team from Las Vegas moved here this year (it's partially owned now by Bernie Kosar).

now that's a name from the past...didn't know the team moved from vegaspopcorn:: ; they were looking for a new coach for last year as I recall:confused:
Arena football is a hoot, moves very fast.

KS, didn't you have this same issue last Easter with your SIL and dinner? or was it another holiday? Ya know, I'd be so thankful for being invited someplace for a nice dinner where I didn't have to cook, that I'd say yes in a NY minute, not wait around 'thinking' on it....good for you, don't fret and save the extra food for having all your guys.

Wow, with mac away, no one will chat about AI or DWTS...ok, some of you need to start watching so we can rag on all these people ;)

KS, once you go to Disney in a non-sweat time of year ;) :goodvibes you'll be hooked and never want to return in those hot, body filled parks time of year. We used to hit Florida in those times also when the kids were young, but now, I'm lovin' going in February. I know it will still be hot for our anniversary quickie, but I needed to plan it over a holiday so I got an extra day off work. When we gals went a few years ago in the same time frame, it actually wasn't sweltering and rather nice weather. We are back to hitting AZ in a hot time, not the hottest time of year, but again, I'm trying to work a holiday in so I get an extra day out of it. Last year it was good for most of the week, couple hot ones thrown in, but that is what air-conditioning is for:thumbsup2

morning campers!

mic - yep, she pulled same stunt last Easter & kept me hanging Thanksgiving too...i keeps me mouth shut for DHs sake.;)

i watch idol & DWS/sporadically (forgot the girls were on last night lol-so who looked good, was wondering about priscilla?) Was it me or did the gent who was dancin with Katrina become awful free with his arm around her neck while they were being interviewed post performance? She finally wound up grabbing his hand & holding it still lol, perhaps she has a crush on her...another mario.

on idol i missed the nurse/biker's performance (was fliipping back & forth between hockey game lol); how'd she do? Little David was great, i just want to squeeze his cheeks:laughing: . Didja notice his creepy stage dad lurking in the background when they showed the clip of him practicing...eeek. The teeny girl from FL isn't wowing me either, surprised thought she was a contender.:confused3

I wanted to go back in February next year, really nice time of year. DH wanted to do HHN & MNSSHP (he had such a good time dressing up as captain morgan i think, despite all the protests lol)

The grand canyon web site sez it'll only be in the high 70's/low 80's when we visit end of June (of course the bottom on canyon is over 100!). We're going to wilt in Vegas, plan on staying inside as much as possible.

Meant to ask you, have u been to Gettysburg? DH has mentioned the idea of driving out to Gettysburg end of next month while jr. is in FLA (doesn't sound particularly romantic to me:confused: ) if we can get one of the older DS to keep an eye on grammie. The kiddo has already been there and DH is a bit of a history buff...guess an overnight is doable or will my eyes roll back in my head?

pam - how'd the conferences go:wizard:

Morning all!

No school here today. We are out for spring break. Went to parent teacher conf. last night and i have to say trent's teachers were a broken record...i think they all got together and told each other what they were going to tell us:sad2: Noah and Aubrey's were the same too.

have a good day everyone...my work is showing up

Good morning glory's....a little rainy this a.m....supposed to warm up then have storms this afternoon and lots of wind tomorrow...spring has sprung

Gettysburg is about 45 miles north of me...we have been many, many times over the years..we used to take the boys alot when they were little, just for a Sunday drive (like who can afford gas to do THAT stuff anymore), take a picnic and drive around the battleground. It is a lot different then years ago as to the route you drive, its all one-way now. It is interesting. I believe they are opening a new visitor center. There are some outlets up that way also if you like to shop. Also the old Eisenhower home you can visit, and I believe that is a pay thing as you have to take a bus to it. You can drive the battlefield route in your own car and they have these thingys you can get that narrate as you hit certain points on the trail. Several places you can hike up to a lookout where stuff happened, nothing strenuous to get up to...again, I have some pics someplace from our trip up there last spring, I'll look later and pass them on. Sometimes they have encampments set up or do a gun firing thing. If you like history it is nice. It is very much unmodernized right in Gettysburg proper, just restaurants, not a ton of fast food, some museums and a wax museum. It feels quite solemn when you get close to entering the battlefield area. Hope that helps a bit. If you have a long drive, you might want to stay overnight, and certain times of year it is more busy then others, but for me, a day trip is plenty. We mostly just drive around the battlefield route, get out a bit, read monuments etc.

Ok, Amanda, the biker chick got called out for 'sounding the same' everyweek :headache: :confused3 ok, didn't they tell her to 'find her groove' and stick with it? The judges make no sense some days. It is her style of singing and now they want her to do a ballad? When she slowed it down one week they criticized her... Yeah, the little gal is a cute, but I've never been impressed. Brooke also showed she is sort of a one-horse show, she is cute and all, but I don't care for her. My man Michael I still like, but wasn't crazy about his song choice...I did not see all of the judges take on rocker David, I was switching back and forth to DWTS and Biggest Loser..whew, it was hard keeping up, anyway, Carly did phenomenal, even though Simon panned her. I usually agree with him, but thought he was a tad off on her choice of song. DWTS...well, Priscilla actually did quite well, although I think her face has gotten monstrous looking...eeww...I have a hard time looking at her...the little Broadway gal did well and Marlee Matlin was wonderful, for not hearing the music, awesome. Poor Monica is kinda klutzy, didn't see the first girl so not sure what she did, let's see, who else was there.....won't come to mind. I DID notice Mario with his hand drapped over her shouldar...he seems to think he is all that and a bag of chips anyway, you can tell...I'll give him props though for dancing well. I'm not a Karina fan, so whatever ;) I would like to see Edyta get a good partner one time...and that Latin guy...VA VA VA BOOM...he is a hottie:love: Penn just cracked me up, that big lug out there trying to do those smooth moves.

They did makeovers on Biggest Loser...WOW...I need me one of those...the people looked awesome.

Pam, enjoy all the kids home at once ;)

Pam, just re-read your note about p/t conference....been there done that;) with oldest...and ya know, he really has turned out ok and now realizes he should have applied himself more....but he is trying in his 'real life' job to apply himself and move up. I've come to realize that some people are not meant to be 'strictly college material'....there are those that still succeed anyway. I realize how important college is today, everyone wants something behind your name before hiring you....I see ads in the paper for receptionist's...'college degree preferred'.....whatever :confused3 you don't need to go to college to answer a phone and greet customers...I do just fine:thumbsup2 plus I've been to the school of hard knocks and it teaches you alot along the way. It is the way it is today. Don't know why they don't make college less of a burden financially when it has become almost a requirement to make it in the workforce.

Ed - Congrats on booking your cruise.

Pam - Your cruise sounds wonderful. Glad you got it all done. I would have had a hard time leaving my kids behind too. Glad the conference's are over. Sounds like Trent is bored.

Mic - The Poly is wonderful. What view did you book? If you said before I missed it. We stayed 3 nights several years ago in a lagoon view room - heaven! I loved our trip in September a couple of years ago with no crowds but I want long trips and can't take them if it isn't summer or Christmas.

Janet - I didn't get to watch Monday night and only caught the last 4 dancers of the girls. Priscilla did great, Kristi Yamuguchi(sp?) was even better. Also saw the girl from Hairspray, she is a cutie and full of energy. Marlie Matlin was amazing! I would say Kristi was by far the best.

Tony - Good luck with your finals. Tell sweets hi for us!

Have a fabulous day everyone!

hi lori:) I forgot about Kristi, she should be light on her feet, so is the recap show on tonight or do we find out next week? I cannot remember how they schedule it.

pam - hopefully, jr. will get motivated:wizard: ; i know what it's like to have a late-bloomer/was more worried about sports & socializing than grades...finally got it - once out of school & being forced to pay OOP for part of education he could've gotten scholarship assistance.:rolleyes1 IMO, community college is the way to go for the 1st 2 years (transferring credits, etc.) if their HS performance is marginal...sure not as painful to the pocketbook if they do have to repeat classes.

mic - thanks for the idol update, yes the nanny has got to go-yet probably will linger longer due to all the good peeps out there.;) I cannot believe Gettysburg is that close to you!
(Whatever happened to the summer meet bandied about herepopcorn:: i vote for Gettysburg lol Believe i just missed out on the Baltimore festivites a few years ago). I know, we can all go to a RiverRats game...i'll buy tix hee-hee

DH has it all figured out (already found a harley dealer for a tshirt:rotfl: ); found a place across from the battlefield (battle #1 where they do ghost tours @ night?) in a QI (part of it housed General Lee's HQ? looks rustic @ best to me lol) with 'historical' rail road spur behind it.:confused3 i whined 'why would you knowingly want to stay in a hotel with a train track nearby:rolleyes: :snooty: and just got "the look", figured it was best to shut up then.

KS, let me know your plans for Gettysburg, maybe we could do a lunch or dinner or something betwitxt and between:thumbsup2 I think I know where that

My youngest son is doing community college and plans on doing UMaryland online. Saved himself some money and still gets the degree.

Oh yes, that was the other one who was so good, Kristi Yamuguchi...she was excellent! I will most likely pull for her, Marlee and if Priscilla keeps up, I guess her...like I said, I just have a time looking at her face...LOL..she once was SO beautiful, and whatever she did that she thinks improved her 'look'...well, someone should tell her NOT...did you see Lisa Marie watching? guess she is pregnant with her 4th man/husband ? I believe they all get to dance again next Tues. (I think I heard Tom say that) with 2 couples leaving the next night.

We just have a garden view at Poly....this will be our 4th or 5th time staying there over the years...seen many changes since our first stay in 1973...like the rate...$48 a night back in the day:upsidedow and I thought that was expensive:rotfl:

mic - i will let u know as date gets closer, as is (if things pan out) we probably won't get there until mid day on Sat, then turn around the next day & head home - a quickie;) ; hopefully enough to get a feel for it.

ps my addled brain remembered the name of the place across the street from hotel - Seminary Ridge (sounds vaguely familiar-why didn't i pay more attention in school?)

that's what i told DSs, doesn't matter which campus as long as the sheepskin sez it's from the school:goodvibes (especially in our area, several of the colleges take the CC credits @ 1/4 the price...basically, they get an associate then transfer...know none of my DSs were mature enough to go on campus:rolleyes1 )

stupid tv didn't come in on truck to bestbuy today, why am i surprised:confused3 think i better measure the interior of suv to see if it'll fit...may need to rent a pick up truck. Wonder how you're supposed to transport them, sitting down flat or upright...hopefully the geeks will know.

lori--i think you hit the nail on the head! I think he is bored too but he still has to do his work....even if he already knows it and hand it in. I really think the teachers have to find a way to keep him interested.

ks--i haven't heard anymore about the meet. I haven't talked to ocm in quite a while so I really don't know what is going on. I really think it would be cool if alot of us could go. Baltimore was a blast!!! I would go there again...it was relaxing and just fun to hang out. The place where I think it would be a good place to have a meet is San Antonio TX. If anyone has any ideas that are better than Disney please throw them out there. I know mic said something about the beach which would be fun...was it SC? I know it is wicked expensive to fly into SC.

mic--i really hope trent realizes that he will have to apply himself at some point. He is worried about his friends way more than his grades. It drives me crazy!! I agree with you about the degree thing.

I think i get later and later every year about getting all my easter stuff done:sad2:

Hey everyone

Sorry I have been MIA. Life is crazy busy here. I have a minute but I hope everyone is doing well.

Pam - have fun gettting all that Easter stuff. I know how you feel, my kids went and saw the easter bunny and they each asked for 1 thing. Samantha asked for a Minnie Mouse Costume, Julie asked for a Belle costume, and Nico asked for an AP to Disney. :lmao:

Keisha - I hope the truck has the TV tomorrow. I'll try to play catch up and see when gettysburg is. I haven't had time to read back.

Mic - I have to tell you..I like the Brooke White the Nanny. I can't stand kristy Lee at all. She is pretty, but she can't sing. I like Michael John, Carly and David cooke. The 17 year old is ok, if he would jsut cut out that goofy laugh.

Ed - sounds like the cruise is going to be fun

Lori - do you celebrate Easter?

Bob - are the kids on break now or next week?

Priscilla's face just looks awful. What was she thinking? Lisa Marie looked a lot better in the audience then she does on those gossip magazines in teh
grocery store line.

Isn't it amazing how the prices have gone up!:scared1: Even in just the past few years. We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in June of 04 for $149 a night over the weekend. Now we would be lucky to get it for $349 a night during the week. :headache: I'm so glad I have my DVC for my Disney rooms!!

I believe it has to be standing up. But I'm no geek!

It is sad that the teachers don't do more to try to motivate the kids. I have problems with Mikey, he's a sophomore and does not have to apply himself at all but he does do his work without having to be told. Ally on the other and, in the third grade, is bored to death. She hates school. When she misses anything it is a nightmare just getting her to do her work. Good luck with Trent!

Hey I thought you were all coming to visit me while I was at Disney!!!! What is going on?

Lori - do you celebrate Easter?

Hey ocm! Good to see you.

Yes we most certainly celebrate Easter. Fortunately my mil does the Easter Bunny thing and I don't have to. No shopping for me!

Hey Momma...glad to see ya...almost time for me to cut out

Agree with ya on AI, except I'm not a real huge fan of Brooke, although she can sing

Good luck KS on measuring up for the TV...what fun, a new boy toy:thumbsup2

Pam, Trent will come around...my son wanted to be more social in school then studious  but he still pulled good grades

Ok, I will respond to more after I get home.....time to fly this coop:yay:

Janet - The next DWTS will be next week. They will all dance on Monday night I believe and then there will be a woman & a man sent home on Tuesday. Hope I have my nights right.

sounds right to me:) . we still need that last add-on & are stretching our points as it is. Rest of family isn't quite as obsessed as I am about Disney/MCO; so it's nice to break up the mousefest @ U/Cruise to keep everyone happy. I'm still in shock over how the CR nearly doubled in 2 years:sad2: ; and the way even the Royal Pacific has skyrocked too. Guess the post 911 deals are falling by the wayside, yet they say the economy is horrible...guess the die-hards budget for their trips at all costs.

i've never been to TX (nor known anyone who has;) ), Myrtle Beach is anywhere from a 10 to 12 hour drive for us...didn't think twice about it when i was in my 20s & 30s; last time it nearly killed me...just can't drive that long with back issues & sitting that long in one spot.:confused3

hi ocm - i was just throwing up some stuff in the air, don't think anythings on the front burner. I keep telling you...Nico is one smart cookie:thumbsup2 . Sorry to say the nanny bugs me, i posted a pic a few pages back that reminds me of her.

Yeah I can't figure it out either. We all know the economy is truly in the toilet yet the parks just keep getting better. Maybe it is just that now people need it more than ever so they make sure they get a vacation.

What am I, chopped liver? J/K We used to vacation in San Antonio all the time. It is just an 8 hour drive for us. We did it so often we got tired of it. That and Branson, it is only a 5 1/5 hour drive. San Antonio would be VERY hot in July. Even worse than Orlando.
