Hi
not à loll by any means
but who is thinking about doing the test to board by Disney at port because i read tgey will offer it but we will pay ?

i read they can still do it when arriving at port is that correct ?
can be done a bit like it’s been done the last few months ?
74$ each i read ?
i am thinking of doing this even if costly mainly because I am so not computer savvy by any means
and doing it via telemedicine / computer stresses me out
out of not receiving it ok
out of not being able to upload it ok in the safe passage app

if I do it with Disney then I will not have to upload anything since I’ll do it at port

came back only 3 weeks ago but all well almost all that was computers related was done by our daughter since she was traveling also with us
next January it will be only is 2 either one too much into computers and uploading stuff

just wondering if anyone is a bit like us and thinking of using dcl and their test upon arrival ?
Thanks

We had to take the test at the port to board on 5/20. We had to wait in a large room till results were emailed to use. We took the Mediterranean cruise out of Barcelona

There are pros and cons for each option.
  • Test ahead (at home) - least expensive but you need to be somewhat comfortable with technology to have the test proctored by video and also to upload your results to the app; depending on travel plans, may be able to cancel from home if positive
  • Test ahead (drug store or healthcare provider) - more expensive than home test but don't need to do a video call, however still need to upload results to the app; depending on travel plans, may be able to cancel from home if positive
  • Test at the port - most expensive but no need to fuss with technology/app, however you do need to have a back-up plan if denied boarding at the port
Like a lot of other things that have choices, you consider the pros and cons, accepting the price point and risk that you are most comfortable with. If that means testing at the port, I'm sure you won't be the only ones.

The wait for testing and getting results at the port should be much shorter now that testing prior to arrival is an option. For the European cruises, everyone does still need to test at the port, so waits will stay as they have been.

Given that I can get a free test performed at my local CVS pre-cruise, I'm going to do that. Cheaper and more convenient as it won't hold me up at port. I also don't want to worry about being denied boarding.

You're still going to have to upload your vaccine card onto Safe Passage, so nothing is going to get you out of having to figure out how to upload stuff onto that website. It's easy, though.

Not necessarily. It takes a certain amount of time for the test to process regardless of the number of people testing. And they will devote fewer staff to this now that it's optional, so I wouldn't count on it being quicker. Might be, but don't count on it.

Yeah I was going say - aren't the drugstore pcr tests still covered by insurance? When I went to pick up some meds last week at the drive-thru they said it's still covered by most insurance companies.
I remember it was 'free' for all during the height of Covid - some fellow passengers on our March cruise were bragging about getting tested for free. They were from Canada.

We are considering testing at the port. We will be at Disneyland the 2 days before our cruise on the Wonder and I really don’t want to take time away from our already limited time in the parks.

The testing procedure changed on June 7th. Now you can test ahead of time (within 2 days of cruise for vaxxed guests) via a proctored or monitored test. You also have the option to test at the port for a fee.

I thought this as well but I just checked CVS for upcoming appointments for a test for my cruise and I had to fill out a questionnaire online. It asked if I had any symptoms or been exposed to anyone with Covid. I answered no as that was the case and at the end got a message that said I did not qualify for a free test. I can only assume they are not doing free tests for travel anymore. Going to see what happens at Walgreen's.

OP said she recently cruised so hopefully her vaccine info will still be on the Safe Passage site. It was for my recent cruises....I did not have upload again but, as you say, she will still have to at least check the app to make sure all is there and to enter her new reservation number into Safe Passage.

we cruising in September and we're doing four nights in Universal pre cruise. So it sounds like the emed testing may be the easiest route for us to take? We're on the Dream out of Miami so I would prefer not to drive three+ hours and be prevented from boarding.

Whether or not testing is “free” anymore may depend on a few factors: if you have symptoms, what insurance you have, where you get tested (CVS, doctor’s office, etc.), and maybe even what state.

Not for Europe sailings, still at the port administered at the port as of this morning.

I’m 60 days out and started looking into this now. Though a lot can change by then. I read no more free testing at cvs or Walgreens now. I at least get free test kits through my insurance. 8 per month per person.

I just tested at Walgreen's this morning for our July 4th cruise. We are in NY State. I booked it on Wednesday of this week for today. When I booked there was no mention of a charge but the next day people were posting that they are now charging $128 for the test for travel.

We happened to have been exposed last weekend so I answered the online questionnaire that yes, I had been exposed but no symptoms. I tested at home during the week to make sure and I was negative.

This morning I was not charged at Walgreen's. There was actually no mention of money at all. I think now, if you answer the question yes for travel they will charge you. I had an 11 am appt and my husband had an 11:15 am appt but they tested us both at the same time (in the car at the drive through window). We got our results within an hour (they said it could be up to 2 hours). They sent an email and then I uploaded the negative results to SafePassage. Still waiting for approval which could take 2 days so they said to bring the negative proof with us to the port.

Many in our cruise group, including my daughter's family, did their test through OnPoint Telehealth. You can use any approved test (the ones for free from the government work). You are purchasing a proctor service. My daughter bought the service last night and booked a 7 am appointment for today. She said it was very easy and cost $14.99. I believe both her and her husband were on the same supervised appointment.

It may depend upon the state too. Some states may be covering the cost; whereas, others are not. Testing due to exposure or symptoms is still usually covered by insurance. I believe the pharmacies submit a claim to your insurance in these cases. We just got rapid PCR tests, because our at home tests were positive. We didn't pay anything.

But the test at Walgreens or the like - where does it state it was proctored? Or is it on an "approved list' because they know at Safe Passage that it was proctored if it was done at xyz location??

They send a confirmation page that shows where the test was taken, name and address of the Walgreens, my name and DOB and the type of test (Rapid NAAT) and that it was negative. I uploaded that document to SafePassage. When I made the Walgreen's appt. I chose the Rapid NAAT test and booked that.
