I'm not trying to start a political/religious thread (and I think people on both sides of the argument can agree that he and his wife loved their daughter very much...whether they think they were misguided or not) but they just announced that he died of heart failure.

I didn't agree with the way Terri's parents handled that case, but I'm sure that this is yet another great loss to the family.. For that, my thoughts and prayers are with them..

May he rest in peace.
I hope he is happily reunited with his daughter now.

I though they handled the case well :confused3 They only wanted to protect their daughter from an abusive man:guilty: They wanted Terri’s spiteful, scumbag of a “husband” to sign off on her (he did have a live in girlfriend) so they could make the decisions.

In the book Silent Witness, even the nurses said he (her husband) would lock the nurses out of the room and go and verbally abuse Terri while she was in a vegetative state.

May Robert Schindler rest in peace:angel:

I never really knew what to think of the Terri Schiavo case. My cousin did read Silent Witness. She said she didn't side with Terri's parents after reading the book but the book made her wonder about what really went on. But I do feel for the family because they have went through a lot.

Sad news to hear. I feel like he died from a "broken heart."

Because of Terry's death, my husband and I were able to have that dreaded end-of-life discussion that neither of us wanted to bring up at any other time in our relationship. It isn't exactly a discussion you have over dinner.
We both know now what each other wants if we are ever in the same situation.

I agree with you. May Robert Schindler be reunited with his daughter in Heaven.

Though I disagreed with him with respect to his daughter, I am glad that the two of them are now reunited, and I hope that the thought of that brings his wife some small amount of peace, as she must be hurting tremendously.

There's an interesting chapter about the Schiavo case in this book.

It's a heavily skewed book in terms of ideology, but the author did a tremendous amount of research. He spoke to the hospice administrator, the police, the housekeeping staff, and dozens of others who were involved in Terri Schiavo's last days.
