Jjcollins thread about the planes being canceled, made me start thinking ( I know that's a scary thought).

But what is everyones thought about another terror attack?
Do you think we will be attacked again on our soil? It was years between the first attack on the WTC and then September 11th,

I truly believe our government is doing a good job and I'm sure we don't hear half of what is actually going on.

Yes, I do believe we will be attacked on our own soil again.

Miss Jasmine- and what is your opinion on when you think they will try again??

I think they will try on spots that our government won't be watching - or come from a country that they don't watch.

Just my thoughts.

I am not sure when they will try again. Like in that past they will wait until "reasonable people" (legal term) don't care anymore and are more put out by the enhanced security requirements, which will then result in the lessening of those requirements, as officials suck up for votes.

JMHO -- My guess is they will attack from within -- and they probably already have sleeper cells in the States. Where will they attack something that is hard to protect on a 24hr basis ( Churches - Bus Stations - Sports - Concerts - Petrol Stations - Bridges that sort of thing )

No Security is 100% Secure

Since you are in Ireland, and I'll tell you up front I don't know where anything is at in Ireland.. But how safe do you feel??

I'm askign this because my DH has to go back to Dubin. For an American Company that started a office there.

I feel safe enough or as anyone can feel safe -- i mean i could cross the road tomorrow and get hit by a car lol

If you mean the troubles here in Belfast i guess the war is more or less over ( and for what i ask myself nothing has changed ).

As for your Husband he'll be fine Dublin - as long as he doesn't drink to many pints of the black stuff ( guinness lol ). When is he due to visit Dublin???

SandraM a member on here lives in Dublin and she could help you out more. Need anymore help just shout or PM me i'll be happy to help you out.

JJ,
Hi Thanks for your quick reply. Rob goes back to Dublin the end of Jan. At first they told him the 16th of Jan, and they pushed it back. This will be his 2nd time in Dublin. I guess it's bothering me more that we are in a High Terror Alert.

So I take it you are closer to Belfast then Dubin. Rob wanted to go visit Belfast, but the company said NO.

One of the things we need to keep in mind is that the threat of terrorist attacks in the continental US did not go up when 9/11 happened-we just became aware of the fact that it existed at all. North Americans (i say that because canada is guilty of this as well) tended to think that we were immune to problems that existed in the rest of the world, isolated by the size of our countries and our distance from other areas of trouble. Realistically, certain parts of the military had considered terrorism the greatest threat to national security for more than 20 years. But our political structure made it easy for politicians and the voting public to ignore it. We we suffer another domestic attack? Definately-When-more than likely when we have become complacent and relaxed sercurity measures or begin to ignore them or it becomes politically expediant to ignore the threat once again. Will it be from an Al Queiada "sleeper" cell-maybe, maybe not-the 2nd worst terrorist attack in US history was not made by foriegner.
Can we live our lives fearing what might happen-yes, but it won';t be much of a life.

Linda get him to ask the company again - he could get the train up to Belfast i'd pick him up show him round town go for a bite to eat and then i'd drop him back to the train again. Train time is only 2hrs - I've lived in Belfast all my life so he would be in safe hands lol.

jj...... ::yes::

Yes, it will happen again, and yes on our own soil...

Not to sound morbid, but the possibilities for attacks are endless. Yes, I feel safer now that we're all aware of the possibilities of the attacks, but like JJ said, no security is 100% safe.

i'll have him talk to his company.. Im sure he would like that.

They had a few things they could not do,or talk about when they were there. They couldn't wear any of the company logo shirts or jackets. I'm not sure what that was all about..

BTW- he didn't care for the guinness.

I was kind of hoping they would locate us there. They did 4 people from here. I'm ready for a change.

BTW- i'm not a guinness man either lol more a Jack Daniels
 - well my offer is there to him if he gets his Company to change their minds.

The one thing I'm looking forward for him to go to Ireland for is the choc. I love the candy he brought home.
