DD: A. (trip #4, 7yo, so totally psyched)
Tonight was e-night, and we were all a little wiped out from all the parks, so we decide to rest up for a late night at MK. We slept in till maybe 8:30, then I tried the front desk again to ask about an upgrade to concierge. I was told that yes! there is availability, but only in lagoon view concierge and that the rate would be about $715.00 more than what I'd already paid for the week. I was disappointed, but really, what could I expect? We pretty much decided to pass, and eat $715.00 worth of food at Capt. Cooks, when the CM said, "wait, you're original reservation was done on a code, let me pass you to CRO, and maybe they have some rooms available at a lower rate," I'm pretty pessimistic, but what a nice suggestion, so Ok, he connects me with Harold, in CRO. Harold checks things out and says, "whattayaknow? we can put you in concierge, lagoon view for 4 nights for only $52.00 more." What!? surely he means $52.00 a night (still a good deal), but no, he meant $52.00 total! I could've kissed Harold! I go to the front desk to make arrangements, and Craig (the room assigner) comes out and apologizes profusely...what Harold didn't tell me is that they have two, 1 for the 1st 2 nights, then another for our last 2...would I mind switching rooms after 2 nights? He assures me that concierge will handle everything (heck, I'd have shuffled my stuff myself for only $52.00, not a problem, guys!) We go back to the room, pack up our stuff, call down to valet, and then we head out for the day, we just have to go to concierge when we get back from whatever we're doing to see if our room is ready.
A. and I head to the pool for fun in the sun, where she meets a really nice little girl to play with for a while. I just kind of veg while I watch...I mean, I'm feeling so good, so happy, so "WDW" if you know what I mean. M and N decide to go on over to the Contemporary and check out the arcade...we've heard its nice. We agree to meet up again about 3:00. A. & I go to the GCH and see a CM offering kids a chance to make lei bracelets. We stop and A. makes on for herself and one for a friend back home, and we have a nice visit with Alohalani from Chicago. She's very nice, and this is free!
When we meet up with our men, M. says our room is ready, so lets go check it out. My gosh! The room was first floor lagoon view, with a beautiful view of the castle. We couldn't ask for better! Tara in concierge checks us in, and she's very nice. Then the kids go upstairs to snack, and M. & I each get a cold drink. Tara made us PS' at Tony's Town Square, so we rest a bit & change for dinner...then its into MK. We've done the light parade on Main Street bit before, and nearly lost our lives in the crowds, so we kind of wanted to avoid this. Our timing was bad, though, so we entered lower Main Street in time for the parade to start. We ducked into one of the stores on Main Street, the one right next to that cute little alley with the victorian style tables & chairs. The CMs working that night were great. M & A sat and played checkers in the store, while N & I loitered in the entranceway to see the parade. As it was coming up, M & A joined us. It was nice, we had a great spot, and A. sat on Dad's shoulders so she wouldn't miss anything. There was this guy standing next to me, videotaping the parade, and just as Ariel, the Little Mermaid's float comes up, he starts this wolf call, and whistle, and yelling "yo, Ariel! Baby!" Then he looks around as if to get validation from all the Dad's standing nearby, and well, he wasn't getting any. I never saw so many glares.
We get our bands, head over to SM ("no, I won't do it", A cries, so we don't force it, but she & I wait for M & N), then we head over to the Haunted Mansion ("no, I won't do it", A cries, so again I wait with her while N & M go on the ride) fortunately, there is a CM standing nearby blocking off the Fantasyland route, and he's pretty entertaining, so we have a good time. Now to find a ride that A will go on, so we head over to Buzz Lightyear. This is awesome...we do it 3x in a row! M was a pretty high scorer (for our group) with 154000 pts (or something like that), and the lowest score was me with 400...obviously there was something wrong with my laser gun. lol.
We do the Tomorrowland Transportation Authority ride, 2x, and thats pretty cool, but the kids are vetoing Space Mountain and Aliens...both of which M and I can live without. So we meander around for a while and decide to head back to the room. We certainly didn't get as much out of enight as a lot of folks do, but for us, it was so much better hitting Tomorrowland on an enight. We have always found that section of MK to be unbearably crowded, so we avoid it during the day.
Even so, we don't get back to the room till nearly 12:30, but the joint is still jumping! A. throws on her suit, and she & I head out for a quick dip before bed.
We're all so happy, and loving the new room...by the way, the mattress was so much better in this building! Can't wait for tomorrow!
