Terrell Owens tries to commit suicide...???

[
I hope the media is happy, they finally did it.[/QUOTE]

Does anyone get credit for their own mistakes anymore???? :confused3

Why is it the media's fault?

I also hope he recovers soon and gets the help HE needs.

Off my soap box now...back to regularly scheduled dis'in

1. He took 35 pills.

2. Ridiculous to say the media did it. Absolutely ridiculous. T.O. LIVES for media attention. Plus, if it was a suicide attempt, it quite likely was the result of a mental condition. Certainly not media coverage.

3. Steve Smith, though a proloific WR, plays in a small market. He gets nowhere near the coverage of a Dallas Cowboy. Plus you are wrong. He was getting PLENTY of bad publicity in the Charlotte area, and people were speculating that it was a contract ploy. Even his tream.

I actually totally agree with PD on this one. His desire to get media attention goes way back to his days when he was trying to get attention away from Jerry Rice in SF.

And something PD didn't cover - gave more effort? Pleeeasse. :rolleyes1

Don't let that Super Bowl thing fool you. Once again it goes all the way back to SF and having problems with coaches and fellow players for being a person who put himself first before the team. There is more to being a "good player" than yards and touchdowns. Note how many times the team didn't succeed long term despite the numbers TO put on the board.

People aslo forget what he put the Ravens through.

DALLAS - Flamboyant Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens tried to kill himself by overdosing on pain medication, even putting two more pills into his mouth after a friend intervened.
I believe they are reporting that the friend is his girlfriend...very sad. From the outside looking in, he seems to have the world on a string. Most guys I know would give their first born child for a chance to play at his level in the NFL.

CNN is saying that TO will be making a statement at 3:30 from the Cowboys' training facility. Deion Sanders was already at his house, and Michael Irvin is helping out too. I don't know if it'll be at 3:30 Dallas time, or Atlanta (CNN) time.

Bill Parcells is on CNN now, but isn't saying much. He's playing completely dumb. :confused3

Well, Bill isn't a DR so I can make a guess that he can't answer the medical questions. He just said, I know this is a story, I will try to find out what I can and get back to you. He said I am getting my team ready to play TN.

He was just asked if when he was interviewing TO for a position on the team, was there any indication of psychological issues. Bill said, you are going somewhere I am not going to go.

I'm not entirely convinced it was a suicide attempt.

Out here in CA, if someone attempts suicide, they are placed on a mandatory 30 hospital stay. Sure the rules are different everywhere, but why let someone go home right away if they are that much of a danger to themselves?

I never liked TO, ever since he played in SF. But I still wouldn't wish him dead.

That doesn't sound like something that is actually going to help him. :sad2:

Can't they get anybody respectable to step in? Maybe not. :sad2:

I agree, I thought most states had a madatory hold time for suicide attempts.

Huh, a thirty (30) day mandatory hold? Maybe three (3) days... I can't believe they can legally hold someone for a month! WOW!

I assumed she meant 30 HOUR, since I thought most places had a 24 hour hold rule.

I don't think TO will be taking any questions. I think he'll make a brief statement, (Michael Irvin said that the combination of the pain pills, plus some performance-enhancing supplement, together with TO spending time in his barometric chamber at home) caused the reaction. The PR machine is in full swing now, so who knows what they'll say? MY Dh is a huge Cowboys fan, and this can't help the season. :sad2:

:rotfl2: I am such a dork, I immediately thought 'days' not hours. :p

If that isn't the dream team of problem football players, I dont' know what is.

It sounds to me that some reporter was trying to create a story without verifying the facts.

Sounds like the press went crazy with this story--he looks fine to me.

Boy, his publicist looks like a piece of work! She said, "When I see a man of his statue..." (presumably, she meant stature! She directly contradicted the police report, so this should get interesting should the cops decide to comment further. I guess they won't bother, but I'd be angry if I were one of the cops, and if my report was accurate! Anyway, on to the other news of the day. It looks like this one's over. popcorn::
