For the last couple of weeks, I've been researching condos and townhouses...mostly at Windsor Hills. I just found out about Terre Verde, and it sounds interesting too.

Can anyone give me some further info on Terre Verde? Advantages, or disadvantages? Comparisons to Windsor Hills?

Thanks for any help. :flower3:

I have not stayed at Terre Verde, but I can see on this map that it is a bit further out. I haven't stayed at Windsor Hills, but I did stay at Windsor Palms and that area is a really close to the parks especially if you take the Sherbeth Road shortcut.

Can't say much about Terre Verde but we did have a drive round Windsor Hills. It is very nice but it is very big - many guests seem to drive to the pool area from their rental home which for us is not ideal - we prefer to be closer. I know each townhome has a splash pool and then the villas have private pools but our kids like community pools where they can meet other kids. The condos however are beside the clubhouse etc but the townhomes can be quite a distance away.

We stay at Coral Cay which is townhomes on a small resort as this is what we prefer :goodvibes It all comes down to personal choice and what suits you and your family best - there are plenty to choose from.

I think the big difference is the area where they are located. Both are lovely resorts with amenities. I do not think you would go wrong with either resort.

Don't know too much about Terre Verde, but we have just booked our second stay at WH for March 09. We are staying in a 3 br 3 ba townhouse just a few steps away from the pool and it doesn't take too long to get to WDW from here. This particular townhouse had absolutely everything we needed, much nicer than a hotel room. There are some back road directions and we thought it even took less time to get from WH to WDW than from some of the WDW resorts themselves.

Good luck and have a great trip!

the townhouses are not that far, take a look at this complete map:

they are just across the street of the clubhouse

I haven't stayed at Windsor Hills yet, but have stayed at Terra Verde, Windsor Palms and Emerald Island. Windsor Palms isn't far from WH, and I think the location is better on that side of WDW. I don't have a map handy...I know that if you search for one on the disboards something will come up showing all of the locations of the developments...that way I might not sounds so confusing. :)

Dh and I really liked Terra Verde, but we just felt more disconnected from everything over there...by Poinciana. We felt like we were doing more driving throughout the trip. I'm not sure if that was due to traffic or distance from parks or what, but it wasn't as enjoyable. We also liked staying in a condo rather than a townhome. I'm not sure what you are comparing, but we were closer to the pool and all that in a condo.

Anyway, we would stay at TV again, but still prefer the other locations better! Good luck finding something!

We stayed at Windsor before buying at Terra Verde so I'm biased. They are both good choices IMO better than a cramped hotel room. Terra Verde is maybe 5-10 minutes farther from the gate but its a lot smaller and more intimate. They are both nice, just do some checking about the specific villa. Wherever you choose, I would strongly recommend dealing directly with the owners rather than a booking agency. Also, If a larger pool is important to you, you might want to go with a house rather than a condo. For a few dollars more, you get a lot more space and large pool.

What is 192 like on the east side of the interstate near Terra Verde? We have always stayed on the west side and found it to be nice enough.

The east side of 192 is pretty similar to the west. Hotels, souvenir places, restaurants, and big box grocery stores.

What was your impression of Emerald Island? We settled on a home there for a Feburary trip...

We have stayed at EI several times, and found it to be quite beautiful. They have a nice pool and playground. The homes are all great from the outside, although I can't comment on the insides of all of them. We were very happy with the ones we stayed in. The clubhouse has computers, and a help type desk, and a game area, I believe. It is a gated community, which is nice.

It's a great place to spend a vacation. I know that you didn't direct the question to me, but since Anthony's post was exactly like mine, I thought I would answer as well! :)

I'm at Emerald Island right now staying in a pool home. I've stayed at Windsor Hills a few times and like it. Emerald Island is very nice too. The clubhouse and pool area aren't as big as WH but it has more of a resort feel. There's more things going on here. Also a tiki bar with a selection of food and drinks.
Beautiful entry to EI. I like it.

Hi. I just got back from Windsor Hills, we rented a house with my sister & her family. My husband and I always stay onsite so I was skeptical, but you can not beat the easiness of getting to and from the parks from Windsor Hills. We never got stuck in traffic and it's so quick. We really enjoyed our time there. I don't know anything about the other place though, so I can't give a comparison.
