Terms that annoy you

"I know, right?"

I cringe whenever my daughter and her friends say that. And one of them like uses like between like every other word and it like gets on my nerves.

We have a vet that comes out to the farm where I work who uses that phrase several times during her visit. Drives me nuts!

IMHO, IMHO is the most overused, unnecessary phrase ever. Obviously if you are saying or typing it, it's going to be your opinion.

Baby daddy and BFF

Baby daddy first: What in the world ever happened to possessive pronouns???? Anybody?? Bueller? Bueller? "Baby daddy" is an infant father, i.e. an (impossible) oxymoron. Baby's daddy - or, even better, given its gravity, baby's father ! Baby daddy !

BFF: Another media misnomer that's worked its way into everyday life. First, while it's true some close friendships are forever, realistically, most aren't - whether it's between celebrities or between everyday, normal people like us. People change. We mature. Interests change. We grow apart. We meet new people and make new friends.

But that's not the gist of my rant. It's - and let me note that I haven't seen anything recent to bring on this musing - for example when some magazine writes about "Celebrity X and her three BFFs" or someone posts about their DD's two BFFs. Doesn't everybody realize BFF stands for Best Friend Forever - and that you can only have one "best" anything, at least at a given time?

Quick, somebody, take away the cough medicine... and throat spray... and cough drops... and Sudafed... before I sat something I'll regret.

So, what term / word / phrase annoys YOU?

I hate when a woman says "we're pregnant!"

That sounds so stupid.

Women get pregnant, men don't.

Both terms annoy the heck out of me and it takes every bit of restraint I have not to reply to posts that refer to people as such.

Using "gay" as in "That's so gay" or retarded as in "Don't be a retard." Both are so offensive to me that even I, normally quite inhibited, will comment on it.

I am annoyed when couples refer to each other as "babe" constantly. Oddly enough, the use of other affectionate nicknames, like "hon," doesn't grate on my nerves as much as "babe" does.
