I totally agree Jessi. I've worked on and off at WDW for over 4 years now (I started in Jan 2005), and there is nowhere else I would rather work. In fact, I hope to go FT at WDW in either May or Aug 2010.
 
Here is an update on my claim from working at Disneyland....I got my unemployment back? Today I got a call from the woman at EDD, asking me more questions about why I'd left my job at Disney a year ago! I left my job there a year ago because I received a job offer for more money, and I took the other job. so Disney was claiming that I "walked off the job", a year ago. But then they hired me back again this recent MArch too. And then let me go.:rolleyes1

Companies get confused when there are rehires. Even though that's the whole point with a layoff...that there's the chance of being rehired. Sounds like someone goofed.

AND, 3 weeks after I was let go, laid off or whatever they want to call it, I began receiving calls from the scheduling dept. saying that they would not give me the days off that I need to work at my other job. After they let me go! They were still calling me, as if I was an employee, to tell me what they are not going to do. As if I was still at their beck-and-call. they are all idiots completely. It made me sick, to remember how totally inflexible and unhelpful they were to me while I worked there.

It definitely sounds like someone goofed. Is it possible your lead never told her higher-ups what she told you? Is it possible they thought you were still officially working for them, though you had been told you weren't?



Hubby's moving to a different company (the company's business-related decision), and the headhunters he's using are trying to verify info from the current company, but they keep giving the headhunters info from '01, when he was laid off the FIRST time. And once that was all figured out and solved (thankfully one of the guys who was in his department has just moved to the HR department and could help!), the company he's going to had some issues b/c they have several people with his name, and needed to know if he'd worked there in the past...he's done "game testing" for them, but it's a totally freelance position, very much NOT working *for* the company, but it was all confusing to them. So he's getting the confusion from TWO companies right now! I think it's just confusing when you have someone who has worked more than once for the same company.

Respectfully, it's the person's - not the employer's - responsibility to find a job or jobs to earn enough money to support oneself.
 
I've bitten my tongue for awhile on this thread, but not anymore.
Is Disneyland going to pay for your bitten tongue? Do you have medical insurance? When you call off for your bitten tongue, will you get "3 points" for calling off? Or is a bitten tongue something that you will be able to claim as Workers Comp, since it's due to an "inflammatory" post on a Disney message board?
