As much as my kids would love to be off with the other kids making friends, we prefer it a bit quieter!! Can you tell me when the kids in Florida begin their holidays between March and July 2005 and when they are back to school?

Specifically: 25th March-10th April 2005, or 28th May-10th June??
Thanks in advance.

Lee County schools are off March 2005: the 14th, the 25th all the way thru (& return on) April 4th. Then there are no more days off till the last day of school which is May26, 2005.

I'm interested in this, too. Thinking of a short trip Sept 15 - 20, as my kids are off the 16 & 17 for Jewish holiday. Do the Florida schools have off then, too?

Robvia, thanks for that link, it's helpful. Although it doesn't say if it's the 2003/2004 calendar or the 2004/2005. My children don't normally have the two days off in Sept that I mentioned, I guess it's just the way the calendar falls for next year. I just wanted to see how many other districts were likely to have off those days. Thanks again.

Thanks for the info. Looks like we will be going in peak time!!

Duval county schools are out for spring break March 21-25 and for spring holiday on April 15th. Our last day of school is May 20th.

It's funny you mention avoiding Florida crowds, we avoid other states' crowds. We never ever go in the summer or over Spring break season, we like our parks without lines :)

If we can afford to stay on-site then it really isn't an issue - but it is if we are off-site. The best time for us was after May 28th - but it seems everyone is off. Still - we will be going for 2 weeks....ahhhh bliss!!!

P.s....I said Florida kids but I assumed within a few days all the kids in America would be off. Is that not the case then?

Selina,

lately the Florida schools have been having earlier and earlier spring breaks and we also get out of school earlier now, the 3rd week of May usually. We also go back to school early, the first week of August.

hi

in New York state the kids don't get out of school till the third week of june (most of them) mine start regent exams after the first week of june
they usually don't go back till a day or two after labor day in sept

BTW - the website is still on the 2003/2004 school year. :) Sarasota County is where I live...and almost every kid at my school went to Universal this year during Labor Day Weekend. Except for me...but I went plenty of other times ;)

Vacations throughout the nation are very spread out. In the Northeast states we generally get a week off at the end of Feb., and the end of April. Other states have weeks off that sort of correspond to the college spring breaks (mid march). Each state is different. And to add to the confusion, neighboring states often won't have the same weeks off. Mostly you can expect some place to be on vacation anytime in Feb, March, or April, because that's just the way scheduling works. Different states also start and end school at different times of the year. For example kids across the country are getting out of school from mid-late May, through the very last week in June, and going back to school anytime from the beginning of August to the start of September.

I'm so glad I asked this question. I never realised there was such a difference. Thanks for all your replies, very useful.

OHHHH yes.... I can remember my High School Graduation was on June 28th. If I remember correctly (have to go back a few decades now LOL), we use to go back the first Monday after Labor Day. When I first moved to FL (back in 91) school in Lee County started the last week of Aug & got out between the 1st & 2nd week of June...now it's Aug 9th & May 27th

This is incredible. The school terms are so spread out. No wonder when ever we went to Orlando, there were loads of kids - I used to think they were having a bit of a skive. Now I know better. So really, it doesn't matter one bit when you go as long as it's not at the really peak times like Christmas and Easter - then off-site will be okay if you can't afford "on".

Having said that, I'm hoping to stay at the RPR or the Hard Rock again!! These hotels are fab!!:D
