Hello All...

The last time I posted on this website was just over 3 years ago (You can find my old journal under Teresa's WISH Journal which was started 8/24/04).

I had lost 65 pounds through WW over about a 14 month period. I I made lifetime about November 2005 with a weight of 142 (never to be seen again). In March of 2007, I had some post weigh-loss surgery having all that belly skin from the weight loss and 2 children removed and also had a lower body lift. The recovery was good, but I went weeks until I could work out again. I think my weight at that point was up to about 150-155. Over the next two years, I have slowly gained back most, if not all my weight. I'm not sure where it went wrong, but between my gym closing and allowing myself to eat things I would have not normally eaten because of the surgery I am back up to the 190's.

I got an email from Luckywife (thanks Donna) a couple of weeks ago and I realized how much I missed this site and the friends I had made on here. I haven't been to a WW meeting in a couple of years, one because I went back to work and finding a meeting I liked has been hard and two, I was embarressed for losing all this weight and then gained it back so quickly :guilty::guilty:. I never thought I'd be one of "those" people. I have a WW friend that had lost 95 pounds over a 2 year period, but she has gained all of it back too. Me and the hubby have joined a new gym close by and I try and get there a few days a week. I work at an elementary school with special ed kids, so I'm on my feet all day. I just try and stay focused enough to go directly to the gym after work and not home to pass out.

I will be 43 years old and realize losing weight will be harder (they sure weren't kidding about that). I know I'll never be at 142 again and realisticlly, I'm not sure I want to be down that much. I'd be happy in the 150's again, so my goal is 40 pounds. I need to also start tracking like I did when I first joined WW.

It'll be great to read some of the other journals since I haven't been on here in so long. Any comments or advice is always appreciated:thumbsup2

I wanted to add that comments were welcomed on my thread, but can't seem to find how to change it.:sad1:

I am SO glad you're back on here, even though I wasn't around for your first journey. After I read your journal a few years ago, I ws truly inspired to join WW and start working out. I lost 50 pounds (never did reach my goal) but gained back some of that after life got in the way. I re-joined WW about a month ago and have lost about 10 pounds so far. Want to lose about 30 more so we'll see how it goes.

I think it's awesome you have decided to start again. It's always a learning process and you have nothing to be ashamed of or embarassed about because you gained some weight back. Be proud of what you have accomplished and what you can/will accomplish again.

Thank you for being an inspiration to me! I really enjoyed your old journal and am looking forward to following along on your new journey.

Donna

Thanks Donna... It's good to be back after so long. It definitely has been a learning experience. I remember going to my WW meetings early on and having people talk about how they were back for the 2nd or 3rd time. I thought "that will never be me". I have found a WW meeting that will work for me since its just after I get off work and its right on my way home. No excuses. I think having a support group like this is so important.

So yesterday was my first day that I was "aware" of what I was eating. The scale was only down 1/2 today, but its a beginning. Did some Wii Fit workout this morning, but plan to hit the gym this afternoon.

My goals today are to write everything I've eaten down and get to the gyn :wizard:

What day will your new WW meeting be? Mine are on Monday evenings, which I really don't care for. Would love to find one that's earlier and not at the beginning of the week right after the weekend lol. But, that's the closest one to home so I'll stick with it.

It sounds like you're off to a good start so far and have some good goals set for yourself. One thing I find myself really slacking on is writing down what I eat. I really need to do better in that area so that can be a goal for me.

Hope your workout at the gym was good! I haven't been to the gym in a long time but have been doing my work outs at home. Next week I'm planning to start the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred plus continue to use my recumbent bike 70 minutes a day.

Hey Donna... I'm going to check out the Tuesday at 4:00 meeting. I get off about 3:45 and the meeting is only about 5 minutes away. Should be perfect. It'll all depend on the leader. After I went back to work, I started going to a different meeting and that really put me off.

Writing things down is KEY. You'll be amazed by all the little things you put in your mouth and not think twice about it.

The gym was good. Only worked out for 45 minutes on the treadmill because me and the DH bowl tonight. I'm hoping to get to the gym tomorrow for some serious cardio before getting together with the neighbors tomorrow night.

I'm right there with you with weight loss in the 40s...ugh! That's why I decided I need to get committed now. I want to get it done before the big 5-0. Sounds like you have a good plan in place with Weight Watchers and the gym (and of course a WISH journal).

Good Morning Tera :)

Were you able to make it to the gym today? Hope you had a great work out! Today I am definitely writing things down, I know I need to keep better track of my food intake and points.

Have a great New Year's Eve! Today is mine and DH's 15th anniversary so we're going out tonight. Should be fun but I don't want to over-do it with eating so will try to splurge a little but not go crazy.

Happy New Year!

Morning Everyone! I can't believe this is the last day for 2009. I'm not sure where the year went. Seems the older I get, the faster it goes by.

Thanks for the encouragement inkkognito. My original goal was before I was 40, which I did, but it didn't last long. Before I'm 50, I'd like to be at goal and actually maintain it longer than a few months. That is definitely the hardest part... maintaining.

Morning Donna... I'm dressed for the gym, but haven't made it out the door yet. I'm a little stiff from the treadmill and then bowling last night. I should be heading out soon though. Happy Anniversary to you and your DH. We'll be celebrating our 20th in February, so I'm really excited about that. Enjoy yourself because its a big celebration, so just be more aware of what your eating.

So last night was bowling (which I kicked butt in). I was good about not ordering any food there, which is a huge weight-loss NO NO, but I did have more than enough to drink. That's the bad thing about the holidays, the cocktails that seem to go down really easy. I was still down this morning on the scale, so that was a good thing considering. I'm not officialling going to track my weight until I weigh-in at WW on Tuesday.

We do a progressive dinner with our neighbors for New Years Eve and then end at my house for dessert and usual karaoke or wii bowling (we have Rock Band this year). My goal tonight is not to graze on food and get plenty of water in.

I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year!!!:dance3:

Happy 2010 Tera! How was the NYE party with your neighbors? Hope you all had a good time! I can't believe it's already a brand new year.

I'm thinking about joining the January exercise challenge but not sure for how many minutes. I seem to do ok with food (MOST of the time lol) but getting in enough exercise is usually my biggest problem. Are you going to join the challenge for this month?

Hope you have a great day! :)

You're so right about the maintenance part...that is always the trick.

Good for you to avoid the bowling alley food (but I know what you mean about yummy holiday cocktails).

Happy New Year Everyone:banana::banana:

I didn't even bother weighing myself this morning. Why bother. DH and I didn't get to bed until after 3:00am and I was up just after 8:00am, so not a lot of sleep. Food wasn't bad & didn't drink too much, but water wasn't very good. Today I spent the whole day putting away Christmas decorations, so lots of exercise going up and down stairs. Finally laid down for a nap about 3:30 for about an hour. I'm so in bed early tonight.

So the holidays are over and there are no more excuses for me not to eat well. Still planning on going to WW on Tuesday, so we'll see how that goes.

Donna - Happy New Year to you and your family. I'll have to check out the exercise challenge. I used to do those when I was on here a few years ago and they kept me pretty motivated. Try wearing a pedometer if you can't get to the gym. Sometimes I'm amazed how how many steps I take just from walking around at work.

Here's to having a guilt free weekend :cool1:

So I peeked at the scale this morning and it was not a good thing. I'm about 3 pounds up from what I was before NYE. Oh well... still not "officially" counting anything until Tuesday.

Today I did start tracking my points again. Went to Red Robin with my oldest DD and got the turkey burger. Looked it up online when I got home and realized that it wasn't my best choice. Should have had the garden burger instead. Oh well.... Bowling tonight, so need to stay away from bowling alley food and bed. Only one rum & diet for me;)

No gym yesterday, but worked my butt off getting Christmas stuff put away. Did some shopping with DD, so at least there was some walking involved. Need to get to the gym or even spend some time on the Wii Fit.

I did sign up for the exercise challenge for January.

Sounds like you had a fun NYE since it was after 3am when you went to sleep :) I'm glad these holidays only roll around once a year lol!

I think not offically counting anything until Tuesday is a great idea. No matter what the scale shows, you know you can take the weight off because you've done it before. And hey! You learned something today about Red Robin, next time you'll know which burger to order so that's a good thing.

We got our Christmas stuff taken down and put away yesterday too and you're right, it IS a work out doing that. It's nice to have the house back in order though.

Hope bowling went well tonight.

That was ambitious getting the Christmas stuff put away...I've been thinking really, really hard about it myself (and so far have avoided it). Hubby is putting away the outside stuff right now so I will tend to the inside later.

At least you have the Wii Fit if you can't get to the gym. I love how it makes it so easy to get in at least a little activity.

Hey Everyone!!

I can't believe it's Sunday already. Where does the time go? :confused3 Now I know I shouldn't be whining about it. I work in a year round school, so I've actually been off for 5 weeks (3 weeks off track & 2 week holiday). I miss the kids and am actually looking forward to going back. I'm sure after about a week though, I'll be ready for a break :scared1:

So today is football, which means I don't do anything but sit in my chair. Now I did get some laundry done (finishing load #6 up now) so at least I got something done. I had been tracking my weight loss for the last 4 years on a website called Fitday.com I loved how I could journal on there and also keep track of my weight. Today I found a new one (youngest DD actually told me about it) called nutrimirror.com I love this site because its easier to put in which foods I've eaten (which I hated doing on Fitday) and kept track of the calories for me plus tells me how many calories I'm allowed once I put in my goal. I've set a small goal first. 10 pounds by March 1st which means I have to lose 1.3 per week to get there. Hoping now that I'm tracking better, I'll be able to meet that goal.

Donna - Hope you are having a nice day. I agree with you about the holidays. It's so tough to stay focused on eating and drinking during that time.

Inkkognito - I'm not sure we're going to get our outdoor lights down anytime soon. We had snow here right before Christmas and its been so cold its not melting. I think more snow later this week, so it could be Valentine's Day before we get it down.

Was today your first day back to school? If so, hope you had a good day! How much time do you actually get off throughout the year being in school year round?

Nutrimirror.com sounds interesting so I'm going to check it out as soon as I'm finished with this post. Will you continue to use it to track calories while doing WW?

Oh you sound just like my DH when it comes to football on Sunday lol! We have the NFL Sunday Ticket so he gets all the games so he's in heaven all day on Sunday from like noon to 6pm and even later sometimes. He's a huge Buffalo Bills fan! How did your team do yesterday? Do you root for the Broncos?

I think your goal of 10 pounds by March 1st is very doable. 1.3 pounds a week is realistic so I think you'll do great!

Tonight is my WW meeting. I'll stop back by to let you know how I did. Keeping my fingers crossed for something good :)

Hi Tera! Just wanted to chime in. Your Tuesday start date somewhat coincides with mine (today). We have two more days of repreve before school starts, but I hope your first day back goes well!

The weight loss success followed by repeat gain can be so frustrating. I totally relate. Been there too many times. Hopefully, journaling will help shed light on the why behind all that so that future successes will be permanent!

We just got a Wii this Christmas and started the WiiFit on NYE. I can tell from how sore I am that some of those games were really working me out!

Don't mean to write too much, just wanted to offer encouragement.

Hey Donna.... How did WW go tonight????

Yes, today was my first day back in 5 weeks. The kids weren't too bad and it was like they hadn't been gone so long. Being year round, I'm in school 9 weeks and then get 3 weeks off. Christmas is longer because of the 2 weeks added on for the holiday and then I have the month of June off so the school can get ready for the new school year, which starts back up in July. I actually love it so far since my kids are older (two DD's 17 & 14). The Nurimirror website is really cool. I've been adding all my stuff on there and tracks my calories and such. I'll probably still track my points, but this is also a good way to keep track.

I watch football basically from 10:00am until the afternoon games are over. Might catch some of the Sunday night and Monday games, depending on who's playing. Grew up with 4 older brothers & my Mom was a huge Niner fan. Niners won yesterday so I was happy. I cheer for the Broncos, but not a huge fan. They really stunk it up

Hey TxRabbit - Thanks for stopping by and the encouragement is ALWAYS welcomed. I'm a little nervous about that first weigh-in tomorrow. Nothing like seeing a 40 pound gain since I last weighed in 3 years ago. Just need to move on from that and work on getting back down again.

Isnt' the Wii Fit a hoot? We love it and you definitely can get a good workout from it. Good for those days when you don't have to or want to go out.

Thanks for stopping by

LOL yes the Wii Fit will kick your butt if you let it!

That website sounds like a very cool way to track things.
