Dang, my iPhone just pooped out on me, but I've been listening to Teresa's dining planning for her trip on today's podcast.

John, Kevin and Teresa said that Beaches and Cream will count as a counter service credit on the Disney Dining Plan. It will not. Beaches and Cream is considered table service on the plan, so many people choose to pay out of pocket for it (and go to a Signature location for the credit they'd be saving).

I thought I'd mention this about Beaches and Cream, since there seems to be a misconception about the DDP credits.

As for having a "meat and potatoes" eater...

All the Signature restaurants tend to have an entree for "meat and potatoes" types. Check out the menus here on the DIS. ;)

I still haven't gone to Beaches & Cream. I'm always hesitant because it's tiny and there's a chance you'd be waiting awhile. I much rather make an ADR. :)

I thought it was table service, but the guys convinced me it was counter. our website says tableservice.:confused3 I just know Grace want's to eat there, so we will. I am really getting excited about our little trip. I just realized today that only time we have stayed at Disney was the summer of 2003.

Nikki, we always go around the time they open because I'm afraid of this, too. We get there at about 11:00am and have never had to wait for a table. (This also gives us the rest of the day to work off those GINORMOUS sundaes!)

When we ate there, we went at about 4:15 or 4:30 for dinner (we just had a snack at lunchtime). We sat at a nice booth and there were also 2 tables available.

Take the advice to go early! We went in August 2008, mid afternoon and waited almost an hour for a table - we actually ended up sitting at the counter.

Despite all of that, it was fantastic and one of the meals my family most fondly remembers! The cheeseburgers were really good (tasted homemade, not processed), and of course the ice cream was awesome! Enjoy!

If you hang out at the Restaurants forum a bit, you'd find out which restaurants take DDP, which restaurants don't, which accept Tables in Wonderland, which don't....you get the idea. ;)

IMHO, the burgers at Beaches and Cream used to be fabulous. They are not as great as they used to be. I discovered better burgers at The Fountain at the Dolphin. I still love the No Way José sundae at Beaches and Cream. Which is usually my excuse to continue going there. :cloud9:

I just looked that up on the menus and it sound digustingly AMAZING! We have never eaten there, but the no way Jose just might get me there! Mmmmmm!

I'm talking about the DIS, Kevin. The Restaurants forum here on the DIS. :)

I understood what you meant.

I was referencing the fact that you can find all of the restaurants that take the DDP, which dont, which take TIW, which dont, menus, hours of operation etc. right here on the DIS, without wading through the Restaurants Board.

Ah, the shortcuts to the info on the wdwinfo pages. Gotcha. I was scratching my head there for a moment.

This is something I am going to really miss when we join those of you currently living near The World. I even thought about buying into DVC so we'd have to go. :teeth:

I hope you guys have a wonderful time. We have really enjoyed listening to your planning segments. Hopefully you'll be able to do it without trips home in the middle and really recapture that on vacation feeling. :goodvibes

The servers are really good about splitting entrees too -- during our last visit the four of us split two dinners/two desserts and our server basically gave each of us a full plated meal as it was only the sandwich that she cut in half...we all got full portions of fries and a fruit garnish. (And yes, we made sure the gratuity reflected our appreciation.) :thumbsup2

I thought that Beaches and Cream was both Table and Counter service, cause you can walk up to the counter and buy your food and eat outside without anyone waiting on you.

I think it's both TS and CS.

Is that right? :confused3

Beaches and Cream used to be a table and counter service. I believe they've taken away the take-out portion of the restaurant and it's now strictly table service.

If memory serves me correctly many guests complained because when they went to order food to go, over the counter they were charged a table service credit. This could be why Disney removed the take-out, over the counter portion of the restaurant.

It was one of the best things I ate on our 11 day trip!

I think you're probably on the money about the changes with take out. I think the take out area now is for beverages and simple ice cream orders - no sundaes.
