Teresa - Beaches and Cream is Table Service

I thought it was table service, but the guys convinced me it was counter. our website says tableservice.:confused3 I just know Grace want's to eat there, so we will. I am really getting excited about our little trip. I just realized today that only time we have stayed at Disney was the summer of 2003.

T.

Really enjoyed the update on how your plans were working out :)

IMHO, the burgers at Beaches and Cream used to be fabulous. They are not as great as they used to be. I discovered better burgers at The Fountain at the Dolphin. I still love the No Way José sundae at Beaches and Cream. Which is usually my excuse to continue going there. :cloud9:

Got to agree with Lori here. We used to be faithful fans of B&C burgers, but they went down hill. Not that they are bad - in fact they still are pretty good. After a couple of visits to the Dolphin Fountain we're hooked. They also give a discount for DVC members there. Just remember that you can't do a room charge unless you are staying at the Swolphin.

IMO Your table service credit would be better used elsewhere.
If you really want to eat at the Beach Club , try Cape May Buffet. At least you can make a reservation there.
IMO that is a better value than burgers and fries :)

Ok please tell me I'm not the only one driving in my car yelling " Theresa, Beaches and Cream is a table service":car:

Theresa I really enjoy listening to how you planning is going...as I am a Disney planaholic. Yes I admit it. Which is why I have to throw the suggestion out there.
Have you considered Crystal Palace for a meal? Not too fancy for the meat and potatoes guy and fun character interaction.

I have to respectfully disagree about the Crystal Palace. I thought the buffet food there was gross. I ate off the kids' part of the buffet for that reason.

You can get some pretty good pork roast and gravy and potatoes at 50's Prime Time. I whole heartedly agree about going to the Yachtsman though!

I'm a big Beaches and Cream fan too. The food is good, the ice cream is totally yummy, and there is just a fun vibe. For those who haven't been, there is a little tradition they have when someone orders the Kitchen Sink. "A whole can!" has become a running joke in our family.

A couple of people have mentioned concern about long waits since they don't take reservations. I would just mention that Beaches and Cream is right next to the YC/BC's fantastic game room, so passing the time is lots of fun. Guitar Hero, air hockey, Ms. Pacman -- your table will be ready before you know it! You can also grab a seat right outside and watch all of the activity going on in the pool -- plenty of games and music to keep you entertained.

I agree with the both of you! We used to LOVE B & C and although we still enjoy it, the burgers have changed.

But the ice cream is the best! We make a stop every trip!

Teresa- I would not use a table service credit, I would just use your TIW card and save the credit for you and Kelvin to eat out somewhere special!

Can Grace take Stella to La Nouba while you and Kelvin go foe a "romantic" evening??

Sorry for the misinformation - yes, Beaches in Cream is indeed a table service on the DDP.

A complete list of restaurants on the DDP can be found here - http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-dining-plan.htm#restaurants2010

With that cleared up I would never suggest using a table service credit for B&C. My NEW advice to Teresa is to pay out-of-pocket if you choose to eat at B&C and save the table service credit for something else - maybe now use that for a signature restaurant.

My suggestion would be to take everyone to CRT (Dan is going to kill me now).

I'm so glad to hear you say that because while I was not only 'screaming' at the iPod that it was a TS, I was also 'screaming' that it was a terrible use of a TS. Not necessarily the quality, but there is no value there. In fact, eating at Trail's End is also technically not a good use of your credits because the price is so low. The regular DDP broken down is approximately: TS @ $25., CS @ $13. and snack @ $4.

Teresa, if I were you, try to go for some of the restaurants that will maximize your value, like LeCellier, Tutto Italia, etc., and save the lower end price restaurants for a different trip - like possibly the Echols' Annual Extravaganza. :cutie:

And one more thing - then I'll butt out - if you can get free dining for your time period, I would seriously consider upgrading to a Moderate. I personally find it more than worth it. Have a great trip. :cheer2: Oh, and LaNouba is definitely worth the $$. You should have more than enough left over to do it.

Edit#1: Okay - I really need to get a life, but I just ran the numbers for POR [8/14 - 8/19] . If free dining is offered, 5 nights, 2 adults and 2 children, (ages 15 and 8; can't remember Grace's exact age), 6 days tickets with no Park Hopper or Water Fun and More and DDP is pricing out at $1,849. Still plenty left over for LaNouba tickets.

Edit #2: Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge are coming in at $2,300.

Just wanted to say no offense taken. I haven't been to Crystal Palace in about 3 yrs. Last time I was there it was good...but things always change.
Oh...and I've been listening to the older podcasts since I'm kind of a newbie to them and am catching up. I listened to one today where Teresa mentioned Stella was not necessarily fond of the characters...so I take my suggestion back. I do agree with John the genius not to waste your table service credits on Trail's end or Beaches and cream. I agree that Le Cellier if you can get an adr is a good deal and ( correct me if I'm wrong) I think you can get the Prix Fixe menu and would get an appetizer too on one table service credit. I know they allowed us to do this at Chefs de France last year.

I agree with the OOP payment thing, which is what prompted me to make this thread. Using it for CRT... :rotfl2:
(I think Kelvin would probably enjoy Yachtsman Steakhouse.)

Our first real trip to the world was summer 2003....good times ;)

Ditto to what everyone else said about paying out of pocket. Love Beaches and Cream, but its not worth a TS credit. Although we have not done the dining plan since 2007, when IMHO it stopped being cost effective. TIW however, love it!

Go to Beaches & Cream and get the Kitchen Sink!

You can't go wrong with that. :thumbsup2

I thought that Beaches and Cream was both Table and Counter service, cause you can walk up to the counter and buy your food and eat outside without anyone waiting on you.

I think it's both TS and CS.

Is that right? :confused3

on allears.net it shows B&C being both counter & table. shows take out sandwiches & ice cream for counter or more items table service. I guess it's possible they haven't updated their web site.:wave2:

Hi Theresa,

Really enjoying your trip planning segments. I've been to Beaches and Cream a few times. I love the atmosphere. It's good for a quick, simple meal.

I think the food overall is pretty good, not great, but good. I usually hit it on off hours. Even so, it's never empty. It's in a great location.

Most times I've been alone and sat at the counter. Service has not been the best. Takes them forever to notice me and then forever to bring my bill.

I do think you will enjoy it. I have never used DDP, so I have no idea if it is table or counter.
