I am one day away from making my ADR'S

90 days tommorrow till our trip, and I am trying to decide on Teppon Edo

Is this the table service restaurant in Japan? I thought it was called something else, and I cant tell from the menu on All Ears if its the same place or not.

Any reviews please, include the good the bad and the ugly.

TIA

We went in January...
As a show, it was fun.
The food was a little more bland than I'm used to - but I imagine it's probably closer to "real" Japanese food than I'm used to. (For example: no fried rice - it's not really Japanese, evidently. Which is fine, really.)
They didn't take our Tables in Wonderland card, which was a slight bummer.

On a scale from 1-10, with 10 being the best, and taking the whole experience into account? I'd give it a 7.
(By way of comparison, 'Ohana is a 10. The ABC Commissary is a 1.) :goodvibes

There are two table service restaurants in Japan - Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining. Teppan Edo is the one where a chef cooks your meal hibachi style at the table. Very entertaining. No they don't serve fried rice (I think that's a Chinese thing and not Japanese). The food is not heavily spiced. They give you sauces to dip it in.

It used to be called Teppanyaki, if that's what you're thinking of...

Thank you all, and yes I think thats what it was called, we could never get an ADR there, I hope we will be lucky this time.

And I see you live in Eagan, my brother and his family have lived there for quite a number of years, :thumbsup2

I LOVED it. DF and I had dinner there, and he is a picky eater and he loved it. It was probably his favorite place we had dinner at!

If you like sushi than try Tokyo Dining. It has our favorite single sushi roll -- the Volcano Roll. It is stacked high, covered with a spicy crab mayo cream and topped with roe. We have been known to eat this roll for lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, and evening snack -- basically anytime we are in the area.

I travel to Orlando for work and have teased my DH that I going to Japan for a Volcano Roll without him. He doesn't think it is funny.

YUMMY!

How many people are seated at one table. We have 5. Just wondering if we will be seated with another party.

Thanks:)

Most likely you would be seated with another party. This is the way it is in all hibachi style places I have ever been. We were a party of 3 and had another party of 4 or 5 at our table.

It is a great experience, especially if you have never been to one. We have 3 in our area and in my opinion Teppan Edo compares to them, except the ones in our area all offer fried rice which I love.

I really like Teppan Edo! Even my DS3 enjoyed it. (He was so concerned about the shrimp tail being in the chef's hat!) They will seat you with another party so that there are 8 at your table. We were a party of 4 and we sat with 2 parties of 2. The chef puts on a show so we only had a brief time to chat and meet our tablemates. The food is yummy.:)

Great! Thanks for the info:)
this is where my son wants to eat on his birthday while we are there.

My lovely DW and i ate at Teppan Edo this past March and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Dined with two other families (8 person seating IIRC), which was fun; the older couple were veteran Disneyphiles and the young fam of 4 were first-timers. Agree with the other poster that Tokyo Dining is the place if sushi is your thing. Both restaurants adjoin in the same building.

I've just booked all my ADR's...couldn't get Teppan Edo for a resonable time....which is a total bummer...it's the one place that was a must do for my DD. I'll keep trying.

Would you say that it's a really popular place?

I believe the tables seat 10 so you will most likely be sat with another party. Just like any other hibachi dining I've been to. When I was with my mother they sat the two of us with a nice party of 3 adults. We chit chatted but didn't have a full blown conversation. There have also been times when I've had hibachi where we just nod our hellos when we sit down and then never utter one word to each other. Not awkward at all...always a great time!

We just dined there last week and were very pleased. The Chef was entertaining and the food was good too. Sometimes the TS Dining Plan doesn't offer more than mac & cheese, hot dogs or hamburgers for kids 9 & under. It was nice that our 9 & 6yo had a better choice.

Since we were a party of 4 we were seated with another family of 4. The table seated 8. We had early ADRS (just before 5pm) so it wasn't too crowded upon arrival. When we left it was very crowded.

If this is one of your favorites don't give up. You never know when an ADR will become available.
