I'm utterly amazed that my DH and I never ate here! While on vacation with his family last week, we had lunch here. Myself, SIL, BIL and MIL had Tori (Chicken) and DH and FIL had Tonosama (chicken and beef) and the other couple we were dining with had the Tonosama and a side of Shrimp. All the meats were served with sprouts, mushrooms, noodles, zuchinni, beans and onions with 2 dipping sauces and a side of rice.

Our chef was AMAZING...I was in awe of his skills. The volcano made out of onion still cracks me up. I believe our Chef's name was Nakatoshi or something like that...the dialog he would keep up with while cooking just cracked me up. The food, by the way, was excelent! Very filling and very yummy. DH also had some sushi (just california rolls) which were very good.

I just wanted to throw this up here quickly - as not too many people speak of this restaurant...well worth the money!

WOW do we have different views! We ate there last night as part of our Candlelight Processional dinner package and couldn't have been more disappointed. We will never go back there....here is a link to what I just posted a little while ago. I am glad you were happy with it though!

Yes, I did read your thread, right after I had posted. Odd.

We did enjoy it though...again, we went during lunch and it being my first time, i really enjoyed it.

We found this place in Aug. IMO it is wonderful! Everything was fresh and tender. We didn't get the beef. We ordered scallops, shrimp and lobster tail.

We also used the VKL voucher which is an awesome deal at this restaurant. Our entree alone cost more than the voucher did. We ate there again in Nov.

We ate here in November and really enjoyed it - this is our kind of food though, fairly plain meat, veg and rice - it was a nice change from all the fried stuff we seemed to have been eating all week. We didn't have a starter or a dessert as I don't think that is the Tappenyaki's strength, but we really enjoyed our meal - even my kids loved it.
I will say that the chef (a woman) was very ordinary, I had been hoping for a better show, but I enjoyed the food a lot.

I have a PS in 3 weeks and was put off by everyone's reviews but when checking out the menus, this seemed to have the best choice for evryone. Also, we have never seen this style of cooking before and thought the kids would enjoy the show. Thank you for posting a positive review that gives me confidence in my choice. We are having dinner and I wonder if this will make a difference but I will be sure to report back soon.

It is still one of our favorites but clearly has gone downhill over the years and has gotten rather expensive. :wizard:

I was so looking forward to taking my family here in October. I am still considering it, but after reading some of the reviews, I am going to keep my options open.

My DD16 absolutely loves to eat at Teppanyaki (although she'll only eat chicken). I love the ginger dressing for the salad. Yum!

Pooh Girl 71: I see you used the VKL voucher. How did that work out for you? I haven't been able to find a menu more recent than the one on Deb's site which is dated 02/02. Did you share? Were the servers receptive to the vouchers? Info from anyone is appreciated.

got2lovedisney,
We've used the vouchers there twice now. Both times the servers were well acquainted with them so no problems in that area.
DD (she's 13) and I shared and it was plenty of food. We were able to get a fruit smoothie drink, scallops as an appetizer, the lobster tail, shrimp and scallops as the entree and the fresh fruit as a dessert.
The entree alone is $34.50 and that is more than the vouchers cost. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection.

We have a local Japanese steakhouse that has spoiled us. We tried Teppanyaki in Oct and were all dissapointed. Taste wise, nothing there. Again we are spoiled to our local place. But we were realy looking forward to trying this. I have to say that with all the really good restaurants on Disney property we have tried, Teppanyaki made a bad impression.

Im glad that others enjoy it though.

Jimmytammy - we had the same experiences and just wanted to say seems like the same taste also....I saw your post for Mama Melrose too! :D

Its one of our favorite places to eat. I love Teppanyaki grilling anywhere. Its a little more expensive than at home, but heck, its Disney. The McDonalds is more expensive too. I usually get the chicken & shrimp and hubby usually gets the steak and shrimp.
Mmmmmm. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

We ate there on Dec 6th and had a great time. We used wishes and had no problems. I forgot what everyone had, but I had the steak and scallops for an entree and the sushi for the appetizer with the green tea ice cream.

The show was great and the meal was just as good. Everyone had plenty to eat, we got more than the value of the wishs. We would eat there again.

the salad and the dipping sauces are good, other than that, it's below average IMHO.

Some day, i'd like to try this place.

This food is right up my DS's alley!

herc.
