Can someone tell me your thoughts on Teppen Edo? We are thinking of doing it for my husband's birthday dinner. Can you see Illuminations from this restaurant? TIA!

You can't see Illuminations unless you leave the restaurant.

I have eaten there twice. Once solo and once with my family. The food was good both times.

You sit at a table for 8 so you may end up sharing a table with another family if you are a family of less than 8.

My husband did not like it because he didn't like all the bowing and had a difficult time understanding the servers. He also didn't like sharing a table with another family.

My DD loved it and my DS said it was so-so. He enjoyed watching the chef do his thing but said he'd prefer BBQ. He was 14 when we ate there. LOL

I really like eating there.

we were kinda 'eh' about Teppan Edo. We have some pretty good Japanese Steakhouses near us, so this wasn't impressive for us.

My family has eaten there for years. It is one of our "Must-dos" every trip (along with Cape May Cafe & 'Ohana - both for dinner).

I have a DD17 & DS14.

*Not sure about "all the bowing" that another poster mentioned. (The guests don't have to bow).

It is very simillar to other Japanese steakhouses that I have been to near home. However, I still enjoy Teppan Edo. We usually eat there when we go to WDW.

We've only been once but really liked it. We enjoy Japanese hibachi. The only bad thing is if you have other people at your table that suck. We had a girl, at the time, that was just terrible. Now, it's a good memory. We laugh every time we talk about Teppan Edo.

If you have a Japanese hibachi place at home that you like, you can skip it, as it's pretty much like any Japanese hibachi place, except with a more limited menu. Unless you really enjoy Japanese hibachi. They don't serve any fried rice, I've seen that be a dealbreaker for some. I've also seen complaints that the salad and soup do not come with the meal, you must order and pay for them separately.

Teppan Edo has no windows. So there is no chance of viewing Illuminations form inside the restaurant. Even if it did have windows it doesn't face in the right direction.

We ate there in Aug me , my sister and 3 teenaged girls .. The girls liked it and we thought it was very good ... Going back with Hubby for an anniversary trip in less then two weeks and we are eating here again !! looking forward to it .. The only dislike I have is the eating with others but that is at any resturant of this type !!

We ate here a part of our 2010 CP package, so it was a year ago. We did not enjoy it for the most part, but we have a great hibachi grill near our home. There was no fried rice (which my youngest loves) and the steak we had was underdone - should have asked to have it cooked more but I hate being fussy especially when there are others at the table that you don't know. I enjoyed the kids chicken more than my steak.

Our chef was "Pete" from Pensacola, FL and that also changed the experience for us. He was rather out of place.

Dessert selections were very limited, and I did not like the ginger cake or whatever it was.

We like it. We also have a good hibachi grill at home, but DD loves the udon noodles and the swordfish steak is excellent.

I agree. We have fabulous Japanese Steakhouses here. Dh didn't care for the limited menu (although I got ol' faithful steak and shrimp.) He also didn't like that the soup and salad didn't come with the meal.

No fried rice. And we didn't like the dessert at all.

We much prefer China's QS over Teppan Edo. (Japan's was closed while we were there.)

We have done this once before and will be returning in a few weeks. My DH really loved this restaurant the first time we went (we will be going for his birthday dinner as well). The girls were indifferent about it especially my oldest since she can be a picky eater at times. Hopefully since she is now able to pick something off of the adult menu she will like it more (she loves steaks and things that adults like rather than kid type foods). As for me, I thought it was good and I really liked our chef because she was very entertaining. Since we are a family of 4, we sat with 2 other couples at our table and that did not bother us one bit, we love meeting new people from all over and enjoy striking up a conversation with them :goodvibes.

We love Teppan Edo and we go most trips. The food is excellent, the servers are warm and friendly and the show is fun.
It is MUCH better than the Japanese Steakhouse I have been to near home.
Fried Rice is chinese, not Japanese. Teppan Edo strives to be authentic Japanese so they serve white rice.
Have Fun

Try Benihana in the Hilton across from DTD.

The food is better, it includes soup, salad and fried rice. AND, it's $8 - $10 per entree less than Teppen Edo. GOSH, I wonder how they can do that?????
