I was thinking about trying this on our upcoming trip. I love the idea of sitting around long tables while the Japanese chefs cook and perform in front of you.

My question is, do you have to request a table like this or are they all the same?

All the tables are like this - we were there on April 27th and it was fantastic - great food and entertainment :thumbsup2

I just read some reviews. Now I'm kind of nervous. It sounds VERY hit or miss.

I also was under the impression that lunch wasn't a menu type order. I guess I'm just a bit confused on how you order when it's all being cooked right in front of you.

Do you have waiters/waitresses or do you just tell the chek what you want?

We had a waitress who took our drinks orders and then our food orders. She brought out the appetisers and/or sushi and then the chef came out later with the ingredients needed according to what each person on the table had chosen - he then cooks this in front of you, e.g. I had chicken, some others had steak, some had shrimp, and others again had a mixture- Hope that helps :)

Don't be nervous. We were there last December Teppanyackl is a fun place to eat. Don't expect 5 Star gourmet food. The Chefs make the experience.

You will enjoy Teppanyaki. It is a must do for us on each trip, and we like to eat all around WS. The food is good, not 5 star gourmet, but very good. The chef come to the table with a cart loaded with what he needs to cook for everyone seated at the table. All of the ingredients and portion sizes are gathered in the kitchen before he comes to the table.
He cooks it all in front of you and keeps track of who has what. He works it all so that it is all ready at the same time, even though some ingredients do take longer than others to cook. Just keeping it all straight is amazing to me.
As with any restaurant, there are those that like it, and those who don't care for it. If you find the description and the menu appealing, go for it. I think you will like it.

My oldest son and his friend are eating here. DS10 and I won't be. We are going to try to get into ESPN Club.

But this sounds like so much fun, I'm sure the older boys will enjoy this so much. :thumbsup2

Last trip the people seated with us (each table seats eight and they will do their best to get eight seated - so we were a party of four seated with another family of four) had allergies - no wheat. So the soy and noodles for us all had to be cooked later - theirs were cooked first on a clean grill with no soy sauce. The chef worked quickly, but it still took a while to get our food.

Just don't get your hopes set on a performance by the chef, especially if you have the chef we did. All he did was chop up the food and cook it ... there was no performance factor at all. In fact he barely spoke; just seemed in a hurry to get our table done so he could move on to the next one.

Not all the chefs are Japanese or of Japanese ancestry- ours was an American from Texas who had little personality. It really is hit or miss as to whether or not you will get a good chef, both in the areas of personality and cooking ability. Our meat dishes were way overcooked.

Teppanyaki is just another Japanese steakhouse, only the food and service is not as good as in any of the many other Japanese steak houses where I have eaten. I would not recommend it.
