Has anyone been to Teppanyaki with a toddler? DS will be 21 months on our September trip and was wondering if anyone else has taken a child as young as him and how they reacted. Basically I am wondering if you think he would reach for the grill but I am hoping he will still be in a highchair.

They will seat young children at the end of the table - away from the hotspot. My son slept through the entire meal in his stroller behind my seat last year!!! I think he would've loved the show though (and the food).

BTW - this forum is for dining reviews... you might ask to have it moved to the main restaurant forum since it is not a dining review.

Already done!!
But I am curious as to how others w/ toddlers made out at Teppanyaki

We ate at Teppanyaki with my (at the time) 16 month old nephew a very active toddler. He was placed at the end of the grill in a highchair and was far enough away so that he couldn't reach the grill no matter how hard he tried (and he did, LOL). He must have enjoyed the food as he ate quite a bit of his parents' entrees - especially the chicken and steak, LOL.

I don't think our waitress had much experience with active toddlers, though - I can still see the horrifed look on my SIL's face when she received a clear glass plate for her little guy (She'd asked for a plate so they could share their food with him). I'm sure she had visions of that plate in pieces all over the floor. We still laugh about it now and my nephew is turning 6 this month.

Anyway, I've seen many little ones at Teppanyaki - they've all seemed to enjoy both the food and the "show". My older nephew (5 at the time, brother to the toddler) ate everything offered to him (truly amazing) He was a very picky eater at the time and it was a chore to even get him to try something. However, apparently it was so much fun eating with the chopsticks (modified with a rubber band by the waitress) that he forgot he didn't "like" chicken and vegetables and rice, etc. :teeth:

Best wishes -

Our 3 yr. old loved it. She ate one of her biggest meals (with chopsticks!) of our vacation here. The "show" helps keep them entertained. :Pinkbounc

Both of my kids have been going to the Teppanyaki since they were just under 2. They love it still! We have to go each and every trip and they are now 15 and 12. They are far enough from the hot surface so as not to be able to touch it. The food is very fresh tasting as it is all cooked in front of you without a lot of sauces. Enjoy!

We have not been to Teppanyaki, but we have taken Russ to hibachi several times - he was about 13 months old the last time. It's fairly easy to sit him away from the grill, and he loved the show. Was entranced by the fire. And he loves the food - although he sucked all the sauce off the broccoli and then handed it back.

:teeth: :teeth: Hmmmm. I'm thinking there are lots of us adults who would like to do that, LOL!

We took our neice there at 14 months and she was in a high chair at the end of the table. She was fine with the whole thing. Her brother who was about four at the time LOVED it and still talks about it.

we've taken both our daughters there when they were under age 2. They both loved it, and the hostess makes sure when seating that there is no way they can touch the grill. They love the show.
