I'd love to try eating here, but don't know if it would be appropriate for my 3 year old. Do they offer any "regular" kiddie foods (mac n cheese, pbj, grilled cheese, hot dog etc...)

TIA!

(eta: i'm sorry if this isn't the appropriate forum to ask questions!)

This is the Teppan Edo Kids' Menu:

Kids' Teppan - includes vegetables, Udon noodles and steamed rice
Tori - chicken breast $12.00
Ebi - large shrimp $12.50

Okosama Set - includes vegetables, steamed rice and dessert
Tempura Combo - shrimp and chicken $9.50
Teriyaki Chicken $9.50

I don't know if they have other more traditional children's fare "off menu".

thanks heyitsme! That's actually what I was wondering, if we could ask for a pbj or something for dd... I wonder when I call for our PS ressie if they'd know. :)

The tempura would be most like chicken nuggets (breaded and fried.) The teppan chicken is pretty kid friendly too! If you've been to a local Japanese steakhouse in your area, the food is very similar I'm sure to Teppan Edo.

we ate here twice last week, because it was so good. I saw lots of little kids but did not see anyone with anything other than the menu items. Everyone gets a bowl of rice, and your child could eat some of the chicken breast pieces which are cooked and cut into small pieces.

My kids ordered off their kid's menu, and I thought it was very kid friendly. My DD (3 at the time) ordered the grilled chicken. It came with veggies and noodles. She ate like a champ and was entralled with the show.

THe restaurant in Japan (names changed over the years) has been the one place we have eaten at on every trip but one (in 2007 they were renovating it) We ate there when the kids were very small (2 and almost 5) They loved it then and still do (32 and almost 30!) Back then the child portion was enough for them to share plus it came with soup and salad like many other Japanese restaurants do!

Thanks for the responses everyone! I think I'm going to make ressies, even though my dd *might* not enjoy the food. She's good about "eat xxx more bites and you can be done" if we know she likes a food but is being picky that day. Maybe I'll make sure to have an uncrustables pbj with us, just in case :o)

(and thanks for relocating my thread, mods!)

I ate here in February. This was my most concerned meal for my 4yo. I was quite worried about him being impatient with the show and not liking the meal. I figured he would be fine with the tempura chicken and shrimp.

He really enjoyed the show. The waitress or chef helper told me the tempura would come from the kitchen. She was very clear about this which made me think some guests were upset that their child didn't see their meal cooked in front of them. He had all his rice and some of mine. When the chicken and shrimp and vegatables(blended steamed corn, carrot, peas and green bean) came out it was in a monorail styled serving tray. For dessert he got a fruit cup of mandarin oranges. It wasn't a lot of food, but in total fine for a young child

He didn't eat the vegatables which wasn't a surprise. I knew he wouldn't eat the shrimp which was one large shrimp, so I ate it. He ate the chicken strangely. I figured tempura chicken= chicken nuggest. Wrong. It is truly tempora witht the flaky coating of breading. He pulled the chicken tender out and left the rest. This was totally the opposite of what I would have guessed!

PS. If you are eating there, I lost a Slightly faded, black visor with a white cowboy on bucking horse on it. PM me and I will arrange to send you a posted envelope for it's return. I really liked that visor.

I've never been to Teppan Edo, but we got to teppanyaki places out here (Japan) all the time. Our friends have a now 3 year old who is extremely picky, but they usually get him chicken and he does fine. He'll eat the rice and the chicken but not the veggies. If your DD likes grilled chicken, she should be fine!
