Teppan Edo with 11

We are going in August and there are eleven of us. Will it take away from the experience if we are split up. I am thinking splitting us up 6 and 5, will it still be as fun if we are at two different tables?

Why do you think the experience would be any less? It's the same food and cooking preparations regardless of the number at the table. But they will seat other parties if there is room. If it's just the fact you would be splitting up only you can answer that.

When we travel with a group, our best moments come from sharing food and the day's experiences at a nice restaurant. One of my all-time favorites memories is having fun with the extended family, all 18 of us at a table at ‘ohana. When we were split up in small groups at Le Cellier it just didn't have that magic. I know that the food at Le Cellier was better, but that's not what I remember.

If you are interested in dining together as a party of 11, I'd save Teppan Edo for another trip and try Tokyo Dining next door. The food, service, and decor are superb and are quite similar to Teppan Edo, just no Hibachi chef.

I think it'll be fine. With 5 and 6, each group can sit at the end of a table (two sides of the corner) so that group can visit. THose people wouldn't be able to visit with the people at the other end of the table anyway. Maybe you would want to tell them to seat you in the same room, even if it meant waiting a bit longer.

My experience with dining with a big group is that you can only talk to the people right near you anyway, so any group larger than about 6, might as well split up.

There is no guarantee that your two cooking tables will be near each other

Only you know if being split works for your group

There is zero guarantee the "shows" at both tables will start at the same time. Even if you are seated at tables next to each other, they stagger the shows so it's highly probable one of the groups will be done before the other. If you are interested in sharing a meal together as a group, I would find a different restaurant.

We had a party of 10 last August at one table. Not sure if some tables are bigger but they accommodated 10.
