Teppan Edo in Japna - World Showcase - EPCOT

We will be staying at the Dolphin (99% sure) and arrive in MCO at 10:40 AM on 3/31/10. We plan on using a towncar service with a food stop - so we would get to the Dolphin around 12:30 PM. I am sure our room will not be ready. We will store our bags with bell service and be on our way....
We have our park hopper tickets already purchased - thank you Undercover Tourist for a great price.

EPCOT will be our 1st park on our 5th time to WDW.
We have never ate at Teppan Edo and thought it would be fun.
We have a 1:30 ADR on 3/31/10.

TEPPAN EDO - we have read mostly good reviews and a few bad ones.
We are fine with small portions and do not mind sitting with others.

:confused3So is the food good ?
:confused3Are the veggies fresh ?
:confused3Meat/seafood tastey ?

I know Teppan Edo is on DDP - but can we also pay with our Chase Visa Disney Dream Dollars ? :confused3

We do not qualify for DDP when staying at the Dolphin. But we plan on using our DDRD's for our food payments.

Thanks :thumbsup2

Food is excellent, had the Filet Mignon and it was wonderful with the veggies, rice, and a few shrimp. You should be able to use your reward dollars at any of the restaurants. It is a little pricey but what isn't at Disney and it is good family fun with great food!

I am a big fan of Teppan Edo, my fave place in the "World" to eat. And I have eaten at Benihana's and places that are similar, and I LOVE TEPPAN EDO.

The shrimp, chicken and noodles are excellent, and the veggies are very fresh! :)

Enjoy!!

We love Teppan Edo. The food as always been good and I wouldn't classify it as a small portion. We definitely get our fill when we go there.

My fiance and I loved it that last time we went....portions were good - enough that we were full but not to our "breaking points"...we could still enjoy the parks! The veggies were fantastic and I had the filet...amazing. If I could do it again (which I will on my next trip) I woul dhave had the shrim and steak combo because all of the steak is so tender I don't think I'd see a lot of difference between the filet and the sirloin.

We love Teppan Edo! I usually order the steak and shrimp, it is very good and everything tastes so fresh and delicious. Every now and then I also order the sushi sampler for an appetizer, and that is also wonderful.

Typical Benihana or Kobe style entertainment but with better food. If you like sushi definetly get the sushi sampler app.

excellent food , and service..you will definitely have enough to eat! Have a magical visit!

This is our family fav! We eat here every trip. We usually save it for our last night, but this upcoming trip we are there for 12 nights & I cannot imagine waiting 12 days to eat there.
The food is always fresh and I think the portions are very filling. I barely have room for dessert.
I ordered the scallops, hotate, last time and they were delicious. Very large scallops and plenty of them.

It is the one TS that we have eaten when visiting WDW every visit since it opened. It used to have a different name but the menu/quality similar. Have fun. We will be there in a few weeks! (the only time we missed it was in 2007 when they were redoing it and it was closed!)

We ate there on New Year's Eve and had a great time. IMHO the food is the same as any Japanese restaurant. We meet some really nice people and even bumped into them again the next day. Had a nice conversation with them. My kids love the restaurant. I can take it or leave it as we have some great Japanese places around our area.

Enjoy The Magic!!

While we LOVE hibachi meals and eat at our local place all the time I prefer not to eat at the one in Epcot...we have dined there many times and DH loves it, never had a bad meal there

The reasons that I do not want to waste my money at Teppan Edo is

1. I can get better food at home for alot less money
2. Teppan Edo doesnt give you the appie shrimp, salad or soup like the local places do
3. Teppan Edo doesnt have fried rice
4. Teppan Edo doesnt give you a huge portion of veggies like the local places do
5. The portions are not that large at Teppan Edo

The show at Teppan Edo is the same that we get at home and the staff are very nice....the best iced green tea I have ever had.

If you click on my Aug 09 link there are a ton of pics from our lunch there...DH was really wanting to eat there on our last minute trip...I tried for 3 days to get any reservation there and they told us they were booked...we walked in at 11:30 am and they said sorry we are booked...DH decided to try again at noon when they opened and guess what? They seated us right away!

Can I piggyback a question here? We have dined here and loved it, but I would like DD to be able to order off the kids menu. She is 13--small for her age, but 13 nonetheless. Any experiences with this?

The food, service and *entertainment* here is excellent.
Between the 4 of us we had the shrimp, filet and chicken. All were fabulous, Perfectly cooked. The noodles were delicious as were the the veggies...even DS6 ate every vegetable on his plate. The 3 different dipping sauces are excellent and add a nice extra to the meal. You can also get plain white rice in addition to the noodles.
DH absolutely loved the iced green tea.
This is always on our *must do again next trip* list every time.

Pooh21 I noticed you seem to have a few kids. You might consider sharing meals. I shared the steak with my nine year old and my 15 year old shared with her 7 year old sister. The kids where not big on the kids menu and it was more than enough food, special if you are going to get a treat in Epcot later.:cool1:

Teppan Edo has to be one of my favorite places to eat in all of Disney. The entertainment is great, the food is fantastic and it is always fresh and tastes great! We have gone here on every trip and we are going back again this year with two small kids -- they should love it!!

I agree. I've been going since it opened when I had 2 small kids!! Now we will be there and they're not so small! 32 and 29! with one of their small kids! We will be eating there again in Feb, been there on all trips since it opened except when they had a refurb in 2007!

My bf and I love Teppan Edo and were so excited when it was added to the dining plan. I had never been to a restaurant like this before so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I really really enjoyed the food and ate every thing on my plate, even the mushrooms which I didn't even know I liked! Everything just had a really good flavor and our cook was really funny and everybody was laughing and had a good time! We are going there again on our next trip!:)

Hey MickeyNicki,

I am really sad to hear there is no fried rice...that may be a deal breaker for us. We eat hibachi at home and even though it is pricey the fried rice is a family favorite and keeps us going back...i checked out your pics too and i wasn't impressed with the portions sizes either.
