We have several Japanese places near me that do the griilling in front of you with tricks and jokes and good food. Is there anything about Teppan Edo that makes it more "magical" (other than it is located in WDW!)?

I am thinking it makes more sense to just enjoy that sort of meal at home and use our time and meals at WDW for the kind of meals we can't get here.

It is the same experience as you'd have at your local Japanese Hibachi place. Good food, but you can do it at home. We stay away from Japan, China, and Italy for dinner in the WS for just that reason. On vacation, we want to do something a bit different, plus we have enough favorites that we can only fit 1 or 2 new places each time, and with such good Japanese, Chinese and Italian restaurants where we live, we avoid them at WDW.

I can't think of anything "special" about Teppan Edo to differentiate it from our hibachi place at home. However, we really enjoyed Teppan Edo when we ate there last year and I look back upon our meal there very fondly. And I think there is something about it just being located in WDW which makes for such a fond memory because I really have no special feeling about our hibachi place at home which is basically the same as Teppan Edo. FWIW, we're going back to Teppan Edo this year and we're really looking forward to it.

I was going to say basically the same thing.

We've done Teppan Edo a few times and really enjoyed it, but the hibachi place by us is soooo much better. Plus, the last time we did it our chef was American...blonde hair, blue eyed. Kind of ruined the experiences lol.

Same tricks, good ambiance but the true difference is in the amount of menu selections. We have a few similar restaurants at home but their menu's are vast, Disney feeds the masses so Tepan Edo's menu is on the slim side. Unfortunately, we can get better than Disney on 99% of dining options at home and of course money wise they will also be less expensive, but you have to eat somewhere! We like Tepan Edo.

We have these kinds of resturants at home but this is a must do every trip for us we love it at Disney.:thumbsup2:worship:
