Planning my ADRs and I'm wondering if Teppan Edo would be a better choice with kids (2, 5 & 6) or LeCellier (also based upon the kids menu)? Any suggestions...

Thanks!!!

I think Teppan Edo would be way more entertaining for your kids than Le Cellier....

My kids are 5 and 9. We did both on our most recent trip.

They enjoyed both -- although DD (5yo) was "being difficult" at Teppan Edo. The show is fun and the kids have the option of chicken on the grill (like the adults). However, when I asked the kids where they'd want to eat when we return to WDW, both mentioned LeCellier, and neither mentioned Teppan Edo. Both really enjoyed their meals at LeCellier -- and they were allowed to get milkshakes as their DDP "beverage" with that meal. What a treat!

So I guess it boils down to the entertainment value...

I haven't been to Le Cellier (Have ADR's though for May 13th !!!)

Been to Teppan Edo 10x or more... my kids LOVE Teppan Edo...particularly my DS-now18....

He won't let me plan a trip unless it includes Teppan Edo... So I had to get PH's for the FIRST time for our Graduation Celebration just so we could do both !!!

Have a magical visit !

We haven't been to Teppan Edo but we have taken our kids to LeCellier twice. Our kids were 4, 3 and 1 year old during our first meal at LeCellier. There isn't much there entertainment wise but the food is great. We went again back in August and they ate really good at that time as well. You won't go wrong with either place.

We enjoyed the food at Teppan Edo, and haven't yet eaten at Le Cellier (will in May). The show was good at Teppan Edo, but if I had the choice, honestly I would do Le Cellier. My children love steak and am looking forward to them eating steak at Le Cellier. I think the choices for kids on the dining plan are chicken & shrimp.

I would pick Teppen Edo with or without kids, we love the place. But with kids, the atmosphere can't be beat. As for Le'Cellier, it is good (personal opinion), but I can't say it's great like others do. I think Le'Cellier is overhyped (only my opinion, not an attack on those who love it). Either way, as a pp stated, I don't think you can go wrong.

we have done both with kids multiple times-many times-a word of caution if fire scares your kids teppan edo may be a little intense-my 2 were almost in tears the first year they were so freaked out by the heat they were almost 3 and 4 at the time

Teppan Edo is a favorite of both my kids (now 6 & 8). It's the one restaurant that DS requests every trip.

My kids liked LeCellier, but it's not one they request to return to. It's dark and tightly packed in there, and the food was okay...but not the rave worthy that I see on these boards.

I think Teppan Edo would be way more entertaining for your children...me and DBF went in September and were seated at a table with 2 young children who had more fun, coloring and watching the chef then the other adults at the table! It's definitely a more lively interactive experience.

We've been to both and we return to both every trip.

The thing to consider about Teppan Edo is that you are sitting at a counter around a cooktop that reaches 500 degrees-plus. When they refurbished recently, they made the counter wider so you are further away from the grill, but it IS still a danger (it is physically possible to reach out and touch the grill, even for children). The other thing is that you sit in a row (although with your young ones, they'll seat you around one end and a section of the counter). You'll also be sharing your table with other people.

The counter or table is a long rectangle. One long side of the rectangle is where the chef works -- no one sits there. There are two seats at each short end of the rectangle, and then a row of seats along the long side opposite the chef. I'm trying to remember exactly, but the tables seat either 9 or 8 people and they do fill the tables.

If your kids need help (cutting food, dealing with drinks and cutlery, etc.) then it's going to be tricky for you at Teppan Edo. Personally I would go with Le Cell just so that you are all seated at a regular table and you can give your children the help/attention they need, and save Teppan Edo for when they are a little older. Admittedly I have only one child and perhaps I'm showing my "worry-wart" side about managing a larger group, so maybe someone with a family more similar in size and ages to yours can chime in.

We brought our kids to Teppan Edo when they were a little older than your kids (it was called something different then). Anyway, when the hostess told my kids not to touch the hot surface it really freaked them out!!! They still don't want to go back there and they are currently 18 and 14!! Its not like they got burnt or anything - but it has had a lasting impression on them. And my 14 yo loves Japanese food too! But we usually just eat at Tokyo Dining instead.
