these are both excellent Epcot WS. I like Teppan Edo a bit more, plus it at World Showcase. IMO u must have at least one dinner at WS followed by illuminations

I have Nine Dragons & Tutto Italia already for dinner, which are must-do's for my family, so this one will be a lunch.

i voted for coral reef because it was a vote against teppan edo. we ate there last year and were not happy with it. the food was very bland as was the "show". the chefs aren't even all to light a fire on the grill. we eat at hibachi grills quite often (to include my DD6) and were less than impressed.

totally with you on the lunch thing... its been eyars since I did Coral Reef and debating if it is time to try it again in June... popcorn::

We like Teppen Edo and Chef's de France in the World Showcase. We are trying the Coral Reef in July and we are excited about eating there for the first time.

Teppan Edo was just OK at best. I vote for Coral Reef! The kids love watching the sea life and the food was really good.

I would have to agree with you 100% that has been our experience there, and we do Hibachi all the time. I really expected Disney to at least be on par with a chain Hibachi place. They weren't even close. My son LOVES hibachi and he left here less than excited, and let down.

While I think the food at Coral Reef has declined over the years (it was originally a signature restaurant on the DDP), I still think dining by the tank is a cool experience.

But I've never been to Teppan Edo - hibachi is something that I've had way too often, so I've never had a desire to try it at Disney.

I'd go with Teppan Edo over Coral Reef personally.

We went to Coral Reef last year and the food was very mediocre... The atmospere and aquarium are amazing, but the food is in small portions and not so tasty.

Teppan Edo is a unique experience, and very interactive. The food has great flavour, especially the steak and the shrimp! We go to Disney every year, and Teppan Edo is always on our list!

We love both restaurants.
Do you want more of interactive meal? If yes, then choose Teppan Edo.
If you want to see fishes and like the theme of being underwater, then choose Coral Reef.

The food is delicious at both and is far above most of the others in all of Disney World.
I also love Chefs de France because the escargot is out of this world. My husband says that I am the most finicky person he has ever known. He's right. Maybe we've just been very lucky but we have always had very good meals at these three restaurants.

Whichever you choose, enjoy!

I choose Coral Reef. I like the atmosphere better than Teppan Edo and we have Japanese Style Restaurants where we live.

We have eaten at both for dinner, and Teppan Edo is my daughter's favourite. We love the atmosphere at Coral Reef, but you can just as easily view the aquarium from The Seas pavilion. Teppan Edo is entertaining and we love the food, it is so fresh tasting and probably the biggest serving of veggies we get while on vacation LOL!

Definitely Teppan Edo. The food was amazing and the entertainment made the meal extra special.

Coral Reef, while a beautiful setting, didn't have the quality of food that we got elsewhere.

Reviews are interesting aren't they? Although we have never been to Coral Reef we have been to Tepan Edo and liked it so much we plan to return in September.

Which one for a lunch on the DDP and WHY??? TIA :goodvibes

I voted for Japan. We don't have that type of eatery (nor a Coral Reef either) in my area. We just went to Japan this past February on our last day there, for our first time and were wowed with the show and how great the food tasted and the serving sizes. I wish we hadn't missed it all the years before. We are planning on going back from now on.

We went to the Coral Reef before and were not impressed at all. A lot had to do that we were seated the furthest from the tank. Without eating close to the fish tank, you loose a lot of the "theme". My DS was too short to see over the themed dividers so he only saw the very top of the tank and nothing at all. We had the worse server ever and the food was not that great tasting at all for us.

Of course, everyone has their own opinion, and until you personally experience it, you won't know what is best for you.

I wish you the best on wherever you plan to dine.

We loved Chefs de France too. It had great food and on our list to go to again for our next trip too. We had a very nice waitress and as she was patient with our DS who was having an off day that day.

we are split in our family. My husband likes Teppan Edo better and I like Coral Reef better. We asked my son for the split vote and he said Coral Reef was cooler. He liked the fish tanks. I didn't like my food at Teppan Edo all that much. We eat a lot of asian style cooking and Teppan Edo is just very plain to me. I like more taste. Our hibachi at home is much more impressive.

I voted CR-it's a must do for our family on every trip.

We have a really great hibachi grill at home, much better than Teppan Edo. However, we do not have a nice restaurant with an awesome fish tank at home-so there you go. :thumbsup2
