Which place would be better for a couple's dinner? We like both Japanese and seafood. Thanks!

At Teppan Edo you are seated on table for about 8 and so if you are a couple then you will be definitely be eating with others. I have not eaten at Coral Reef but you wouldn't be eating with others and you might get seated by the tank!

The food at Teppan Edo is really good so i guess it depends on what you would like as a couple

My vote is Coral Reef. The atmostsphere is more unique, and the food is better in my experience anyway. Teppan Edo is perfectly fine, but I don't find the experience any different than any Japanese steak house anywhere else. In fact the food at the one here is WAY better. That really is no reflection on Teppan Edo. The one here is just really good.

Coral Reef is really ssslllllooooowww. I am convinced this is by design. Some where along the way some one decided that people will spend a lot of time looking at the fish in the big tank, and therefore there is no need to move quickly. I've read reports of people having rude to apathetic servers there. That has not been my experience. The servers are usually pleasant. Some are better about checking in on you than others, but that all goes to that slowness. This place is very popular, so be sure to make a reservation.

We usually do lunch here, and have found it to be a great break from the park and the heat. I always either get the talapia or mahi mahi.. yummo!

We've done (and enjoyed) both. It depends on what kind of experience you're looking for. If you have some time, and are looking for a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere, then Coral Reef. If you're ok with some company, and a good show while you eat, then Teppan Edo would be a better choice. We've only eaten at Coral Reef once, b ut have gone back to Teppan Edo many times because we loved it so much!

Teppan Edo for the entertainment.....Coral Reef for atmosphere..... your choice in the end :)

For a more adult dinner and seafood, I would exit the International Gateway, and walk 5 minutes over to the Flying Fish on the Boardwalk, or take the boat over to Bluezoo at the Dolphin.

Teppan edo is very bland, you sit with other people and the portion sizes are variable. Coral reef is better IMO (although the tables are very close together)

I completely agree everything stated above. If you wanted to try a seafood restaurant I would go to the Flying Fish Cafe. However, we have been to Teppan Edo once every trip and love it! Would definately recommend Teppan Edo over Coral Reef. We didn't like the service or the food at Coral Reef but that was my experience. Teppan Edo is simply fun and has good food. I would choose between Flying Fish or Teppan Edo. Have fun either way!

We done both. I prefer Coral Reef for the atmosphere and the food. I thought that the food at Teppan Edo was rather bland, but we like asian cuisine that has a lot of taste to it. I just didn't think this was the case with Teppan Edo. I have had better hibachi style cooking at home and the food is just as good. We don't have restaurants like Coral Reef at home so that is one reason we enjoy it so much.

Having just eaten at both, I'd say Coral Reef - check in a little early, and ask them to put you right next to the tank. With two, it shouldn't be too long of a wait for that.

Coral Reef. Without knowing you, or where your from, Japanese steakhouses are a dime a dozen now. Back in the 80s it was something most people didn't really know about. We only had one in our area, and it was a real treat to go to. Now, there are like 5 within 20 miles from each other. Good luck, and have a great time!!!!

If you have never been to Coral Reef, I would go there. We have been twice and we really liked it. We are not eating there on this visit, I want to give Teppan Edo a try.

Thanks for everyone's input! I have ADR's booked for both these places the first week of May for my boyfriend and I. For some reason, even though the bad reviews are few and far between they are always the ones that tend to stick in my mind, so it's nice to hear some good reviews about both places! :yay:
