Teppan Edo instead of Coral Reef?

I was going to book CR since I thought my kids would enjoy the atmosphere but now I am wondering if I should book Teppan Edo instead so that we will be closer to where we need to view Illuminations. I want to book dinner so that we can finish and go right out to see Illuminations. So... do I do CR or try Teppan Edo

hhhhmmmm.......just based on wait time, i would say book teppan edo. it seemed like we waited less time there than at CR.

My vote would not be for Coral Reef. When we went in January (2009), a supposed slow time, we waited a whole hour over our ADR time. We were seated near the back and the barrier to the other tier was too high for my children to see over at the large tanks. We had a slow server and it took forever to have the food arrive. The food was not the best tasting and we don't have plans on ever returning to Coral Reef when there are so many other great places to eat.

We have not tried Teppan Edo but if it fits your schedule and where you wish to be for Illuminations, I would suggest going there.

I love both restaurants. You can't go wrong with either one. From our experience though, Coral Reef does seem to take a while to seat its guests. I think we waited 30 min past our ADR time, but it wasn't a big deal for us. This seems to be the case for the Coral Reef in general though from reading the disboards threads. We ate at Teppan Edo on NYE and loved the close location to the lagoon to view the special fireworks.

Both restaurants have a neat ambience- the fish in the tanks, obviously , at Coral Reef and the chefs at Teppan Edo.

We have enjoyed both restaraunts, but I agree with other posters - if you are pushed for time go with Teppan Edo. Your kids will enjoy the chef as much as they enjoy the fish tanks - mine did!!

We went to CR for lunch last week. It was just ok. Friends dined at Teppan Edo in May and LOVED it. I would go there instead of CR.

Coral Reef is about as far as you can get from Illuminations and it is not fast food - there are many reports of slow service from there. If your major concern is Illuminations, you'd be best off changing to a World Showcase restaurant.

We went to Teppan Edo in August (myself and 2 DD). We had a lot of fun and the food was very good. My DD22 was worried she wouldn't like anything, but she got the chicken and loved it. We have been to CR in 2 of our previous trips. It was ok and we watched the fish tank for the first few minutes and then kind of didn't. I would go to Teppan Edo especially if you need to be over in that area for Illuminations.
