Okay, if you have consumed hibachi before, you understand the usual tricks. However, I will state this was the tallest onion volcano I have ever glimpsed!

The food was wonderful and some of the best hibachi we have ever had. The servers were quick and you not ever went without certain thing you needed. They provided the kids at our table practice chopsticks, which was cute.

We agree that this is a great place! Much closer to the traditional Japanese Kobi House that we had in Japan. I too was blown away by the height of the volcano on our last trip! The service for us there has always been stellar, and they patiently listen when I try to speak Japanese.

I do enjoy it, but have seen disappointed reviews from some who have a hibachi restaurant they prefer at home.

Teppan Edo can be different because:
Soup and salad are not included with the entree. They can be purchased separately.
They will not prepare fried rice. (Saw a few people state that alone was a dealbreaker)
The menu will be more basic and limited than you may be used to from Benihana or other Japanese steakhouse chains.

In addition to TDC Nala's good comments above I'd suggest people consider going to Benihana at the Hilton hotel directly across the street from DTD.

We LOVE Teppan Edo and it is our must-do on every trip.

If you have special needs or allergies they are GREAT because the food is cooked right there in front of you. No surprises. They will cook your food first too, if you are allergic to shellfish or vegetarian. My son is in love with the yum-yum sauce!! I had to ask for the recipe (which they will gladly give you at the front desk).

Teppan Edo is both my DH and DD12's favorite restaurant in Epcot (they are in love with the Ribs appetizer). As for DD10 and myself, we like it and think it is a fun place to dine at, but we are not in love with it like the other two are.

Going there on my birthday next month, can't wait!

I do have one question though--there used to be an option on the menu (for adults, not just for kids) to get just shrimp as your entree, which is what I was planning on getting since I'm not a huge fan of chicken or beef. But in recent menu updates it seems like shrimp alone isn't an option anymore for adults. Is this true?

While we don't love it, we usually do make a visit. As for some reason it's one of the more light tasting food vs the richness of food at other restaurants. Also their portion sizes aren't too big, so we never leave feeling totally stuffed. We usually need that option as we always get the deluxe dining plan.

I'm in the minority and Teppan Edo is just so-so for us. We have several teppanyaki style restaurants in our town. They all in my opinion beat Teppan Edo hands down for show, decor and food quality and portions. If you do not have such a place in your home town then Teppan Edo is fun, especially with kids but compared to what I find at home it just doesn't compare.

Near Downtown Disney offsite is Kobe's steakhouse teppanyaki. Far better food and show at much lower prices but still, not as good as what we have at home.
