am i nuts? or should we rent a cabin. I love to camp but then i am thinking rain :umbrella: . when we usually camp we sometimes put up tarps over the tent if there is a threat of rain, but of course this really doesn't look too appealing to the eye.
so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
thanks

People do camp in July and all I can say is "more power to them".

You will have heat and rain and heat. Be prepared. Have seen some tents with A/C units hooked up.

I would opt for a cabin.

Florida in July is about as bad as it gets in terms of oppressive heat and humidity. My dad lives in FL and summer is the time of year where you go from one air-conditioned venue to another. It doesn't cool down at night enough for comfortable sleeping, either, unless you can finagle an A/C into your tent. We are avid campers (tenters) and I wouldn't tent in FL in the summer.
Yep, I'd go with the cabin for sure in July.

In a word, YES!!!

(Then again, I would never spend $$ to sleep on the ground... but that's just me... my vacation is time to upgrade from everyday, not revert to pioneer days... but that's not to say that someone else can't enjoy it...)

But seriously... I am a FL resident, and you DON'T want to tent in July!!

Go for the cabin. We were there in August a few years ago and were so glad we opted for the cabin. The humidity and rain can be unbelievable. The cabins are very nice and you will be happy with your choice.

We tent camped there in July 1992. It was so hot and there was no place to escape the heat. The pools were bath temp and you were sticky the minute you stepped out of the shower. We would never tent camp there in July again. You need AC to make the nights bearable.

I'm a native Floridian and my vote is for NO on tenting in the summer.

Like they said its just too hot. Plus, the cabins/resorts usually have great rates then. CALL for reservations, I find the WD site doesn't give the best rates even IF you do it online.

As far as the weather, we are in a very weird cycle down here since last summer. Even though we have plenty of water from the hurricanes it hasn't rained here in a VERY long time. Also, theres already headlines we may be in for another hurricane season course hurricanes tend to strike labor day time historically. Usually in the summer we get some rockin thunder storms, though we didn't get too many in 2004.

The cabins are wonderful. You can really save alot of money too by having at least one meal at the cabin. You can go to a nearby area grocery store PUBLIX/Walmart nearby (Publix is a VERY good clean FL grocery store) and get some food without the high Disney prices/lack of selection at outpost. With the outdoor deck and grill its ashame not to cook a nice steak or burgers (unless you're a vegetarian  ) . With the full kitchen w/ dishwasher cleanups not even a problem.
